Just finished the series, and I’m really glad I stopped watching the previews and let the story unfold. Is it perfect? Not quite. The two leads definitely deserved more screen time together. While I enjoy the actor portraying the second male lead, the last few episodes felt like they focused too much on his character. Zheng Ye Cheng, Li Xin Ze, and Jing Chao have gained me as fans. I absolutely love how they portrayed their characters here.
I absolutely love the chemistry between Zheng Ye Cheng and Seven Tan. Their performances are fantastic, especially in the moments where they convey so much emotion through nothing more than a simple gaze from afar.
In episode 36, when YJL said he knew it was a trap, and JYY screamed, 'You knew it was a trap, yet you came anyway!'—the tone of Seven Tan’s delivery in that line cracked me up. Only someone who cares about you would yell at you with love.
As for the fight scene with the masks, even though it was a bit chaotic, it was still beautifully done.
How falling deep the script..worst childish plot It happening ....The selfish sacrifice ...The ridiculous plot…
And this is why JYY is JYY. When Niu Wu Niang was comparing her upbringing and surroundings with JYY's, Zhao told her that JYY is different because of how JYY treats the people around her.
But imagine if JYY abandoned her people and left with the YJL. People would be saying, 'Can't believe she abandoned all those people to die. You can't speak logic with these type of people!
Can't wait to see how JYY gets herself out. Just finished episodes 32-33, and she's come such a long way — I love how she handles things in these two episodes.
Divorce? WTF? Are they serious? I am beginning to think the writers and the director are dragging their feet.…
Feels like the typical Cdrama teaser that makes you feel angst and excitement, only to reveal everything at the end with a twist. I’ve stopped investing too much emotion in all these previews until the actual episode.
LOL!!! Still rigged. I reviewed 30 episodes, some of them in great detail, and only 0.1 point went up.
Crazy fans can be pretty scary. It’s honestly a shame that some people are so delusional by judging actors or actresses based on their looks. I always make time for Seven Tan’s dramas because I know they’re above average and don’t need all the hype to keep me hooked. She and Zheng Ye Cheng have amazing chemistry in this series.
I enjoy this show the most when I can binge the episodes. I watched episodes 22- 28 today, and YJL blew me away…
Episodes 23 and 24 are my favorite so far - YJL is fighting his way back, and his confession. I've never wanted the bad guy to hurry up with his evil plans as much as I do with Bai. LOL! It seems like he's still hiding something, and we need to find out! Episode 30 is picking up, he's doing something. I don’t care for Zhao, though—maybe the actor playing this role is just too expressionless.
I think I'm getting impatient bc I need the plot to move on. Also, we've already seen the kind of person JYY is,…
Agree! I like the sweet married life, but they need to move along with the other characters too, especially the second male lead. His evil plan is moving too slowly. I'm also really liking this actor. He can act—you can see the conflict between his evil plan and his love for JYY.
Is anyone on 24? I hate that he doesn’t tell her he loves her. Stupid offer of divorce papers. Makes me nuts.…
If you remember what JYY's mom told him, it’s clear he wants to respect that. Great acting by Zheng Ye Cheng and Seven Tan. The disappointment on her face when he mentioned the divorce papers—and the regret he showed when he realized when he looked at her. And when she asked, 'How can I repay you?' it hit hard for him too. The pacing is slow, but honestly, I’m glad it is. Making it so much more authentic. I don’t want them to rush into and have it feel forced or unbelievable.
Has anyone noticed that you can see people's skin in this series? I'm glad that this series is not using whatever filter C-drama is using nowadays, where everyone has no skin texture.
Just finished ep 24: I love Zheng Ye Cheng's portrayal of Yang Jing Lan in Brocade Odyssey. This is my first time watching one of his dramas; I’m a fan of Seven Tan, but I'm truly enjoying Zheng's performance here. The chemistry and interaction between the two leads are refreshing and distinct. While the story is decent and the production might not be grand, the costumes are absolutely stunning. I appreciate that the actors' voices are not dubbed, which is a significant plus for me, as I can't stand watching C-dramas where everyone sounds the same. I can't get enough of these two!
As for the fight scene with the masks, even though it was a bit chaotic, it was still beautifully done.
