Crash Landing On You

I JUST FOUND OUT THESE ACTORS ARE MARRIED IN REAL LIFE. THAT IS ONE OF MY SAVING GRACES, THE FACT THAT THIS DRAMA AND THE SHOOTING OF IT AFFECTED THE LEADS SO MUCH THAT THEY DEVELOPED REAL FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER. I SAW THEM AT THE AWARDS AND THEM BOTH WINNING ACTOR OF THE YEAR OF SOMETHING, THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER. UGHHH, IM SO HAPPY THEY GOT THEIR PERFECTLY HAPPY ENDING IN REAL LIFE. Now, on to the review.

I don’t know why, but all the k-dramas that I’ve watched have been so much harder to get through than c-dramas. I think it’s because of the long episode length that I can’t stay focused for that long at a time. I like to space out my watching to 1 episode at a time, but with these hour long episodes, it feels like it is dragging on and on. Bro, when I saw the last episdoe was 2 hours long, I did not know how I was going to sit through that.

That being said, this is my 2nd favorite k-drama ever watched, under twenty five twenty one. Twenty five twenty one just left such a mark on me with its themes about nostalgia. But, these kdrama was more romance based and heavy with crime, revenge, sacrifice, and guilt. The emotions were so deep in this kdrama. I have to say, the first half of the drama was pretty hard to get through for me, but episodes 13-16 just flew by. I couldn’t stop watching at the end because the episodes would be left on such good cliffhangers. The ending of kdramas though are so much less anti-climactic than cdramas. I get that the only reasonable way for this drama to end was Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok living separately due to their different backgrounds and the fact that they both have family in their respective countries. However, it just didn’t feel like closing to me in a sense. I wanted a better ending in terms of resolutions.

Se-ri is such a powerful woman. From the very start, she didn’t take any disrespect from anyone and even when going through something unimaginable, she still has self respect. I HATED most of her family though. How are you going to wish for your sister to die just so you can take over a company? Se-ri is the most genuine one of them all and only the mom was trying to fight for her. Whether this was out of guilt or love, she still tried to be hopeful for Se-ri.

This was a very like lowkey enemies to lovers trope with the 2 of them, as they literally HATED each other. I thought the North and South Korea dynamic was also super interesting as there is such a big contrast.

Ri Jeong-hyeok is like your classic cold male that later opens up. I loved how he was so protective in the beginning even when he supposedly hated her. The candle he went and bought along with all the shampoo and conditioner was really sweet. The scene where they jumped off a cliff together was so funny. Ri Jeong-hyeok didn’t even have a harness but he was just hugging Se-ri. By episode 4 bro, he’s already done for. Ri Jeong-hyeok is in love with Se-ri whether he admits it or not. Awww…him buying her a scented candle to help find her in the market and take her away from her childhood trauma. He’s very observant and always remembers everything that Se-ri tells him. He’s such a gentle, kind person that only shows that side of him for her.

I also lowk feel for the dad that has a 10 year old son and is simply working for the state to make money. He had emotional connections with Ri Jeong-hyeok’s late brother and he seems like a genuine person that is just forced to do wrong things.

I always love tropes with some found family aspect and the fellow soldiers and comrades have such a good dynamic with Se-ri. It’s like a brother sister dynamic where you’re protective but can also fool around and have fun.

Even when Ri Jeong-hyeok’s real fiancée came to their town, he wasn’t afraid to show his care for Se-ri. He even let her stay at his house for the night in front of his fiancée.😭 But, you can tell at that moment that Se-ri was devastated. Her bubble popped because she realized that she likes him a lot more than she thought and he’s “taken”. They even watched the first snow together. If that’s not the hint that they’re gonna end up together, idk what is. So, this better be a happy ending.

He literally took a bullet for her in the back and we’re only halfway through the show. It’s not that he didn’t want to see her off, but he needed to prioritize protecting her instead. “I made a promise to her that any time she’s in my sight, I will always protect her.” And he has lived up to that promise since.

Through watching all of the extra clips that we get at the end of each episode, you can see that Ri Jeong-hyeok and Yoon Se-ri have actually met before by coincidence. When she was at the lowest point of her life in Switzerland, he happened to be traveling too. She was about to jump off of a bridge when Ri Jeong-hyeok saw her for the first time and started secretly taking pics of her. Then, he made up an excuse for her to help him take pictures so that she wouldn’t get the chance to jump off the bridge. So, Ri Jeong-hyeok has been saving Se-ri’s life since then. Not only that, but when she was at Switzerland, the piano melody that she heard that helped her with all of her struggles was actually played by Ri Jeong-hyeok while he was going through the hardest time of his life as well, just having lost his brother.

Even when Se-ri told Ri Jeong-hyeok that she was marrying someone else and leaving him, he still comforted her. He risked his life and his job so many times to try to get her back to South Korea. When Se-ri had to lie and say it wouldn’t ever work out and she jsut wants to go home, she started crying. Ri Jeong-hyeok hates to see her cry so he said that he understands and it’s ok, so she doesn’t have to cry anymore. If that’s not selflessness and love, then idk what is.

OMG…the full circle moment with the piano music and the song that Ri Jeong-hyeok wrote for his late brother. He also never played piano after that until he met Se-ri. He decided to play that song for her to remind her of their actual first meeting. This is literally so fateful. As a pianist myself, this song is so beautiful too.

When they were separating from each other yet again, Ri Jeong-hyeok said a line that shows jsut how mature he is. “You can date men and hang out with other people as if nothing had happened. Just don’t be lonely again. Don’t ever think about disappearing at a scenic place. You have me. I won’t be by your side, but I will always hope that you won’t be lonely. Be happy until the end of your life.” THE HECK!!! Stop this poetry bro. This shows how he truly wants the best for Se-Ri even if it means giving her up again. But the way he was still delaying seeing her go and pretending that he forgot the way.

QUEEN QUEEN QUEEN. AURA AURA AURA. When she first returned to South Korea in that white suit and making that speech in front of her memorial, that was literally boss behavior. I love how she is such a confident woman and not deterred by anything or anyone. I love the found family that was created in this drama too though. When she saw her fellow comrades in South Korea, the hug she gave them, and how much they all missed each other was beautiful. Not only that, but her birthday scene where they all showed up with gifts even though she thought that they all left. How could they ever leave her on her birthday? She just realized then how much she needed all of them.

The end of episode 13 was so thrilling to watch. The whole gang coming and and helping Ri Jeong-hyeok fight everyone. Se-ri coming at the end and saving him through driving her car directly in the path of the gunshot wound. And Ri-Jeong-hyeok shooting someone for the first time in this drama for Se-ri because he supposedly shot at her, i dont really know. I loved the dad and the courage he gained. BUT WHY DIDN’T HE KILL THAT DUDE? HOW IS HE STILL ALIVE BRO!? Why was Ri Jeong-hyeok just cradling her in his arms? Call an ambulance bro or block the wound from bleeding out. She can’t be dead yet. The couples ring on both their hands too as well as the replay of memories between the 2 of them. “I still have more to say. This can’t be the end. There’s something I haven’t told you. I love you. I love you, Se-ri.” OMG, until this episode, I hadn’t relaized that Se-ri said I love you to him but he hadn’t said it back yet. Aww…and the whole gang swearing to protect Se-ri with their lives but at the end of it, they all ran out and saw her bleeding out in Ri Jeong Hyeok’s arms. How shocked and in disbelief they all were.

AWWWW. The way that Se-ri woke up and calling Ri Jeong-hyeok telling him that she missed him and she wants him to come back to her room and see her. I loved the deep emotion that they were both feeling. Not only that, but both of them crying and their teary eyes. Ri Jeong-hyeok literally sprinting to go see Se-ri. And obviously, him blaming himself a little bit for putting her in that dnagerous situation. But, what he doesnt understand is that she would die for him just as he would for her.

Episode 15 and the North Koreans are stuck in investigation bro. The way that Ri Jeong-hyeok is still trying to save Se-ri and take the blame all by himself, but he does not realize how much Se-ri would give up for him too. She already got shot for him, so taking a testimony of the truth is nothing. I just know it hurt him so much to say those hurtful things to her face to face, saying some bullcrap about him “using her” the entire time. Not only that, but the way that Se-ri was so unwell but still travelled all that way for a face-to-face. And she literally collapsed after from blood poisoning. Once Ri Jeong-hyeok heard that, he ran and saw her being carried away for medical help. The grief and guilt on his face just increased ten-fold after seeing that as well. The second time when she was placed under critical condition was even more moving. He sprinted and watched her through the ICU unit to see her and make sure she was ok.

I also loved the end of episode 15 for the second lead couple. Gu Seung-jun and Seo Dan are lowk cute together and they met by chance but fell for eachother instantly. He came in that barn and shot everyone up with that fun. Not only that, but he literally gave up his plane ticket home and his safety. He got shot twice saving her when he is not trained in any sort of conflict. “I was wrong. When I die, there is someone that is crying for me. The fact that you are that person makes me sad and happy.” HE BETTER NOT DIE BRO. ALL OF THAT JUST TO DIE AT THE END. PLEASE. BOTH OF THEM SURVIVE. Se-ri and Gu Seung-jun don’t give up. (after I finished this drama, spolier: the main character obv lives, SO WHY DOES GU SEUNG-JUN DIE!!! UGHHHHH)

The parallels when Se-ri was almost dead. She would choose to relive everything 100 times over even if it is dangerous because it would allow her to meet Ri Jeong-hyeok again. But, Ri Jeong-hyeok said that if he had a choice to turn back him, he wouldn’t meet her. He doesn’t want her to put herself in danger for him ever again. So, he would never meet her in the first place. Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok are literally meant for each other, trying to do anything for the other no matter what. The dramatics at the end of episode 15 got me, I have to say. The acting is insane. The facial expressions. The music. UGH.

Episode 16: I love the mom. Making sure that Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok and everyone get to meet one last time. She knew that for both of their sanity, they needed it. Oh my goodness. Him recrossing the demaracation line to be with her and make sure that she is ok after trying to run after nearly dying. The hug. Everyone with their guns out. That moment was beautiful even if it wasn’t supposed to be played out like that. The concern in his eyes. The last “I love yous.” They both knew it was probably the end of their dream. Aww..her found family is ripped from her just like that. Ri Jeong-hyeok’s dads AURA holy. The other guy was shivering in his pants and his dad executed and killed him just like that. Holy. The comrades were shocked and amazed and glad all at the same time. AWWW…Ri Jeong-hyeok did the bookshelf thing too. Aw, Se-ri made products for the village ladies that she met when she was in South Korea. She’s such a genorous and compassionate person, knowing that they don’t get recognition or luxury products often. “She wasn’t here for very long, but she never forgot about us.” I truly think being in north korea shaped Se-ri as a person and made her a better one. It showed her different perspectives of the world. I feel so bad for Seo Dan, she lost her true love in this life and decided to face what she truly wants, which isnt Jeong-hyeok. “They love each other more than their lives and I can’t do anything about it.” The 2 moms talking about their own children, having loves that are unattainable for different reasons but still holding on to that love. The whole theme of this drama is you have to love, no matter what. Despite any challenge thrown at you, it is always worth it to just love. He literally spent the time to send Se-ri a whole year of reserved messages ahead of time, so she would have a message from him every single day. He’s actually so thoughtful. YES! Ri Jeong-hyeok gets his dream back of playing piano. Hopefully, this means he can meet Se-ri more often. And then they met in Switzerland, full circle, down to the detail of Se-ri being on a paragliding adventure and crashing.

SPOILERS!!! THOUGHTS!!!

Overall, this drama was good. It was interesting at times, but also a little hard to follow. I loved the characters and the growth in them, but it just didn’t captivate me. I wanted more action scenes and emotional scenes. I don’t think there was enough. But, it was really good at the end. I loved the ending the most.

Zhao Jinmai is really really naturally pretty. When she was wearing the Persian outfits, GORGEOUS. Her acting is always very stable and she can convey emotions so well. Zhang Linghe’s acting was also really really good in this drama. But, this wasn’t my favorite characters for either of them. I think their characters in other dramas fit them more.

I like the plot of this cdrama. It’s unique to everything else that I’ve watched before. The enemies to lovers start and then the rediscovering was really well done. Especially since both of them have the chance to rewrite their fate and story.

From episode 2, u can tell that Li Rong and Pei Wenxuan have love and care in their hearts for each other. It may be buried very deep down but they are constantly and instinctively protecting each other. They are able to tell from the style of gameplay that they both lived 20 extra years. I think Li Rong was just hurt because of Pei Wenxuan’s childhood best friend and she assumed that meant he loved her so she shut down her emotions. Once that happened, Pei Wenxuan was hurt as well, so they both built emotional walls. But, still, they both always care about each other, so I don’t know what was going on in end of their future lives. My prediction is that it is a big misunderstanding though. (I was right)

I love their bickering with each other very early on. It shows their familiarity but also that like married couple type of fighting that occurs. They’re both so sarcastic with each other and try to hide their love, so it’s very interesting to watch.

Why am I distressed in the beginning and confused? I know that Su Rongqing is probably a bad guy in the end, but their chemistry with each other in the beginning was strong too. Especially in that closet scene. But I also love Li Rong and Pei Wenxuan, their chemistry just comes naturally. It flows like a married couple.

Nevermind, I’m on team Pei Wenxuan and Li Rong. His confession in the rain was so emotionally moving. “When she was sad, I became nervous. When she smiled, it felt like every day was a good day. If she fancied a hairpin, I’d make sure to remember what it was like. If the weather changed, I’d be worried if she was soaked in the rain. If she left home for a few days, I would pine for her. I wanted to write her a letter daily to tell her how much I missed her. I’d wonder how many kids we would have. I’d also wonder if we would grow old together. If I do have regrets, they’ll only be about you. The one I loved and lost was only you, Li Rong.”😢😢

I love Li Chuan and Li Rong’s relationship at the beginning especially. They have so much care for each other and are always trying to get the other out of trouble. Li Rong is such a strong FL, who isn’t afraid to go against their own mother for Li Chuan’s good and wishes. It’s sad to see the flashbacks of how their relationship deteriorates, but I hope it changes this time around.

“Let’s live in the present and not give up important things for fear of future uncertainties.” That is one of the best quotes I’ve ever heard from any drama ever. This is what one should live by to live their life to its fullest. Courage, honesty, and passion is what stems from this piece of advice.

“As your husband, no one can do anything to you unless they step over my dead body. As your ally, I’ll stand in front of you even if everyone wants to kill you. So whether we are a couple or allies, our fates have been long tied together. Just choose a path you like.” The words of affirmation from Pei Wenxuan is actually super sweet. Especially for Li Rong, when she’s contemplating a big decision. “I would always die for you without hesitation.” Whether they admit it or not, Pei Wenxuan and Li Rong would give up their own lives for the other. No questions asked.

Episode 20 and Li Rong still needs to figure out how to be vulnerable with her emotions. Pei Wenxuan’s attempt at romance with the buttercup flowers, Li Rong’s favorite outfit, and his favorite guqin. Everything was thought out so carefully for Li Rong but at the end, she didn’t catch on to the hint. Ugh the misunderstanding happening between them. Pei Wenxuan openly expresses his love while Li Rong has to figure out how to openly express her love for him. She does it through protecting and defending him against enemies, but still needs to work on admitting it.

Pei Wenxuan willing to wait for Li Rong to figure out her feelings really struck me at the heart. He said “10 years, 20 years or even longer if you need I will always be here. Because I like you and I will always wait for you.” He’s so understanding even when emotionally hurt and dejected. He still tries to put in his best effort emotionally to help Li Rong and give her space and freedom to figure out her own feelings.

Pei Wenxuan is able to read Li Rong so well and her actions/emotions. He always knows when she needs help or what help she needs. He’s always there for her and knows how to make Li Rong the most comfortable and live her best life. Their deep bond is just different in an unexplainable way.

Who would’ve thought that Su Rongqing also came back from 20 years in the future? My question is how, because he didn’t die right? Only Pei Wenxuan and Li Rong did. I can lowk feel for Su Rongqing though. After his family met their horrible demise in every way, he’s filled with revenge and a want to protect his family in this 2nd chance at life.

Episode 25 with Pei Wenxuan brought me through so many emotions. When he forcefully pushed himself onto her, I was conflicted. I didn’t know whether to be mad at Pei Wenxuan or feel for him because I understand his feelings at the time. He cares so much for her and just wants a little bit of reciprocity back from Li Rong. But, I also get Li Rong as she was trying to make Pei Wenxuan’s life the best it could be, even if it means leaving her. She’s had to hide her vulnerable side and everybody misunderstands her “cold” temper.

Awww they’re so cute when they have to hide their relationship to convince everyone else they divorced. Their secret yearning and meet ups were so cute. Pei Wenxuan really becomes the baby in the relationship and Li Rong is like his guardian, keeping him in check.

I feel so bad for Su Ronghua. Him and Shangguan should be able to be together. I hope they figure it out. Politics are one thing, but the gentle love they have is another. Su Ronghua doesn’t care about power or the throne, he just wants to live comfortably. And I think it’s the same for Shangguan, she just has it harder cus she’s their only daughter.

Omg the plot twist in episode 33. So literally everyone Li Rong trusted besides Pei Wenxuan decided to tag team her and kill her. Who would’ve thought? Everything was just a big misunderstanding though. I really hope their fate can change in this life because that is such a depressing way to die, at the hands of a misunderstanding. Everyone was plotting against Li Rong, the betrayal runs deep let me tell you.

Ok episode 36 really confused me. The time jumping and recollection of events was a little hard to follow, so at the end, I didn’t even know what was happening at one time. But, when Su Ronghua and Shangguan Ya said goodbye, I was so maddd. The only reason they can’t be together is politics. The politics screwed them over bro.

Li Chuan I think truly loves Li Rong. When he gave her the sword to kill him before the future becomes like how it was in the past, his eyes held that little brother look in them. He looked so pitiful, you can’t help but feel bad. I truly truly don’t think he has any ill intentions. I really want Li Chuan to have a happy ending. Everyone should just have a happy ending….please.

Episode 40 with Su Rongqing’s end was so sadd. I know he’s supposed to be the enemy, but his motivation for everything came down to his love, either for Li Rong or his family. And when he gave the dragonfly and said congratulations for her being pregnant and having a child, I felt so sorry for him. The only he wanted was for Li Rong to be happy, and at the end, u can really see that.

But of course, I’m glad Pei Wenxuan and Li Rong ended up together. Now, their love is just undeniable from both sides. They are willing to die for each other time and time again.

I’m so glad everyone got a redo at life. Chuan ended up as a good person with time spent together with Qin Zhenzhen. Shangguan Ya and Su Ronghua were able to be happy. And ofc our main couple. Only Su Rongqing had a sad ending😔. “A happy farewell” is the last song he ever played for Li Rong and then ended up burning himself to death cus he has nothing to live for anymore. But he was still smiling at the end of it😭😭 This is like the first time I’ve wanted the villain to have a better ending.

So, I started watching this after He Yu's role in Speed and Love. I just gotta say: his role and character is completely different in this drama. Here, he's the little golden retriever type of boy constantly trying to pursue the woman he loves. Hair theory is truly a thing though after I watched this drama. Not to say that he didn't look good here but I like his hair a lot better in Speed and Love. I do like that He Yu can play these very different roles, though. He masters both of them so well. This drama was very similar to Find Yourself in a way, which is why I wasn't amazed at it. I didn't like how the FL kept on pulling herself away and acting cold, when a wonderful man was right beside her. However, I do think this drama is better than Find Yourself in the pacing and length of drama. 29 episodes is good enough for this plot because any longer, it would start to drag on. I also noticed that even though I couldn't binge this whole drama, once I started watchig a few episodes at a time, I couldn't stop. So, I watched this drama in like segments of like bingeing 3 episodes at a time. I don't know though. It wasn't like a drama that I was super invested in, I kind of played it in the background of doing other things, iykwim. The ending was great, overall, it was a decent watch. But, it wasn't like a drama that I will constantly think about every day.

Through just their 1st meeting, I can already see the comfort that Lu Zheng An gives Lin Yang. The minute they hugged, Lin Yang melted into his arms and started crying. "I care for him because he cares for me." "She is my bottom line." Even if they don't both admit it, they are each other's most important person and everyone can see that. In the back of their minds, they will always care about the wellbeing of the other person. Li Tian is actually one of the most annoying and delusional characters. Since the first episode bro, causing messes for no reason. I loved the scene after Li Tian and Lin Yang fought in the office and Lin Yang told Lu Zheng An that she wanted to walk alone, but he followed her always like 5 steps behind. I lied, take that back. Halfway through the drama, Li Tian actually becomes an understanding and respectful person. After admitting that there is no chance between her and Lu Zheng An, Li Tian became a likeable person.

Lu Zheng An is such a nice guy towards Lin Yang. When watching the drama, I sometimes forget that he's 7 years younger. He's a good caretaker. Knows how to cook, clean, and care for a person emotionally as well. But she keeps on pushing away. Ugh...I know why she's pushing but I wish she wouldn't. FINALLY!! Episode 14 and Lin Yang realized how important Lu Zheng An is to her and how much love and care he has for her. He even made his Moments private to share his thoughts throughout life all these years with Lin Yang only. All those posts and messages were directly for her only.

UGHHH...Their dating arc was so cuteeee. Lu Zheng An and Lin Yang having to hide it from the public, but Lu Zheng An not being discreet at all. I loved it, there were so many cute moments and sweet encounters between the two of them.

I think the reason that the age difference doesn't bother me in this drama is because I can't really see it. Lu Zheng An is so mature and knows how to care for Lin Yang perfectly. Although he may act goofy sometimes, he still helps her plenty. He cooks, cleans, cares for her when she's drunk, and emotionally helps her to open up. Not that only that, but he helps her friends too. He fully immerses himself in his life and tries to make it happier and easier for her, which is exactly what a bf should do. So, personally, the age gap isn't shown through their actions and it doesn't bother me at all.

HAHHAAHH!!! What a dirty mind they both have. When they were sitting on the couch in episode 20 and all the movies/shows that popped up on the TV reminded them of *that*. Like, even a rocket or like a dam that was pushing out water got them both flustered ash. And then after they did some not very sibling-like activities. I should have seen it coming. Although I gotta say, that scene was pretty graphic for a cdrama. Usually, they just cut it and skip to the after part, but it was pretty graphic is all I gotta say.

I love how they dealt with the public exposure and that whole conflict. Both of them have been so confident and secure in their relationship, always fighting for the other. Lin Yang and Lu Zheng An fufilled the promise of not giving up on each other. Ugh, I love Lu Zheng An's dad. He understands and has always supported their love and then giving his hard earned money to solve the issue. Aw...Lu Zheng An crying and then the dad saying "Bring my daughter-in-law back." I loved that sentence. I love the moms too later on, once they understand the whole relationship and start realizing how good of a situation this is. I'm so glad there wasn't a brbeak up or last minute misunderstanding. That would've actually made me crash out. Both of them are trying to protect the other and you can blatantly see it. Especially loved when both families agreed to their relationship and were even happy about it. Their families are the most important parts of their lives, so the fact that they all agree and hide nothing makes it so much less stressful.

Awww....I loved the ending of this drama. It was so reassuring and closing for everyone. Every single character grew into a better person and found their own path in life. I especially love the proposal scene with Lu Zheng An and the slideshow that was playing of all the people that he loved in his life. It was really wholesome and sweet. Also, I love the full circle moment with Lin Yang's child and Cao Ling's child as well. It's just like the same dynamic that Lu Zheng An and Lin Yang had, except those children are only 5 years apart. It makes it seem like this story is just beginning and never ending.

MAJOR SPOILERS!! OVERALL THOUGHTS AS I WATCHED.

Overall, this was a good drama, but it didn't truly captivate my attention until the last 5 episodes. It was a good watch but I don't think it was exceptionaly. For some reason, I had a little bit of trouble following with all the time jumps and added future characters too. It felt like this drama was being a little bit too complex plot-wise.

I do have to say though that this drama's visuals are insane. I'm talking about face cards, actors, actresses, and sets. It is just so "pretty." Holy though, there are so many different couples and pairings throughout this drama.

The biggest thing I took away is that I love to see the found family that occurs from all their troubles. The love and protection they try to have over everyone in the Mask Group just shows this. Till the very end, everyone was willing to give up everything to save the others and their loved ones. Bro, this drama is my first c-trauma I think. Everyone basically died, so I don't even know how to collect my thoughts.

Woah, this drama has all the actors/actresses in it. Shen Yue, Hou Minghao, Ding Yuxi, Zhai Xiaowen, Zhang Ruonan, Meng Ziyi. I'm telling you, the 1st minute of this drama, when Hou Minghao appeared, it gave me high hopes. Aww...the 100 eyed Demon Lord just wanted to give back to his loved ones. He sacrificed himself for the good cause.

"Appearance comes from the heart." That line is so true, even though Huaizhu didn't know who the leader of the Mask Group was, through his actions and caring personality, she will find him physically attractive as well. I thought the scene where Qin Lan was talking bad about Hong Ye was so funny, because all of Hong Ye's people knew his true identity as the Mask Group leader but Huaizhu and her sister didn't.

"There's people that come from humble origins, but keep every promise they make, and are always kind to everyone." Xiaowu's death actually broke me. And then Chu Jing's sacrifice of himself and his demon core to make it snow one more time for Xiaowu. Xiaowu's last words to Yang Yan and even telling her not to hate her horrible family just shows the kindness in his heart that was lost. He was loyal until the very end.

After watching episode 8, I do believe that Hong Ye is a good person and he does things out of the goodness of his heart, but he has to hide behind the identity of the leader of his clan. He does have a duty to fufill, but later in the drama, I'm sure that he will end up doing things to help others (demons and humans) instead of gaining benefits for his clan. It's just a matter of time and I think that's when Huaizhu will end up falling for him too.

Why were Huaizhu and Hong Ye literally playing a stripping/gambling game!? Hong Ye fell in love in the 1st episode and literally has not stopped. He's folding, head over heels for Huaizhu. Why did we literally get a kiss with Yitan and Zui before Huaizhu even started liking Hong Ye.

Aww...I really like the 2nd couple in this drama. Yitan saying "When it comes to my life and Zui's life being in danger, I choose hers without question." Their relationship progress is moving along a lot faster than the main leads.

Seeing all of their fates in episode 15 made me actually really sad. They all died trying to protect each other and the good in the world. If that ending is how the drama ends, I won't be able to handle it. (I couldn't handle it)

I also love ig you would consider them the 3rd couple (Cuiyu and Mu Mie).

Episode 16 and 17 are the ones where the show starts to pick up and get exciting for me.

“If we can’t live together, then let’s die together.” Hong Ye is willing to give up everything, even his life to get Huaizhu back. He literally pledged to give up his life with the umbrella of purity to make sure the demonic side comes out of Huaizhu. I loved that whole episode with the Masked Group all fighting together and Hong Ye giving up everything for Huaizhu in the end. And then she came back and that is when she started realizing the good in Hong Ye’s heart and the devotion he had. That whole scene was so harmonious. And the hug they shared after with Huaizhu finally opening up emotionally. The kiss they shared was beautiful as well on the bridge.

Red Eyes gave up her own life for Mu Mie, when she was the one he loved this whole time. "Dummy, thank you for being the proof of me being alive and being loved." That confessino by Mu Mie and Red Eyes was so beautiful, but then it ended in the next 5 minutes. They deserved more screentime together, but it was too late.

Why does white hair look better on like every cdrama ML ever!? Also, here's another couple that I like better than the main leads: Zhang Zheng and Qing Muyuan. There's so much history and emotional connection between the 2.

"Two shoulders can hold more than 1 persons. In the future, let's both share your burdens." Even though the main couple is kind of boring to me, I do gotta say, they are always supportive towards each other.

Why was I lowkey kind of sad and moved when they showed the scene of Jia Lan fading away after trying to save Lord Jiuhuo. And the kiss that Jia Lan and Lord Jiuhuo shared after was actually kind of emotionally tugging. Why was I actually sad when Lord Jiuhuo died and asked Huaizhu and Hong Ye to "set Jia Lan free" by killing the Black Fox? All he wanted was a chance with Jia Lan again...

The start of episode 31 had me with a very unsettling feeling. Everyone was planning for the future with each other and it was their last get together with everyone. Some people of the masked group already have families to go back to. The father in the masked group better get to go back to his daughter. Also, Quzhou and Qin Lan better get the time to make a big confession. Please, I don't have a good feeling about the ending.

NOOOO...the first one is down. Why did Zhang Zheng have to die like that? In the hands of his loved one, yet he still reassured Muyuan and said that he doesn't blame her at all. Muyuan better go on her villain arc after this bruh. I spoke too soon, she died like 2 minutes later and accomplished nothing. Hey, at least they're reunited in the afterlife.

Quzhou and Zizai's last scene together broke me though. The life exchanging talisman being put into work by Zizai. "Quzhou, you still go on and protect this world. I'll still protect you." Zizai once gave up his hand to save his brother and now he gave up his life to save his brother. I did not expect that at all.

Holy, they're dropping like flies. Yitan killing both Qiyue and Zui will haunt him for the rest of his life. Honestly, the guilt even if he survives this battle will destroy him. It won't matter that he was being controlled, it is better for his sanity that he die in this battle too. Qiyue's death hurts in a different way though, because his daughter will never get her dad back. The way he already had a whole family, but will never get to see them again. I have a bad feeling about Zui because her mask was shown dropping too. Everyone's mask who has dropped has died so far. Then, Zui getting stabbed directly in the heart by one of the only people that loves her: Yitan. I just know it is going to cause some tears, because Yitan has never protected and loved anybody as much as Zui. The way Zui still protected Yitan after he stabbed her just shows how deep their love goes. Wait, I'm actually kind of sad that most of their future was not able to be changed. Yitan having to still pull out his clarivoyant eye to stop the Black Fox from predicting their moves. The line that every person is saying to their loved ones: "I'm coming." Basically, telling them that both their lives ended, but at least they're together in the afterlife.

Hongye's scene where he had all of the masks of the fallen members of the Mask Group was UNNEEDED. That was like the 100th stab of my heart in the last 5 episodes of this drama. The guilt he must face and then they started replaying the death scenes, like stop please.

Hongye and Huaizhu's wedding was supposed to be the best night of their lives, but it was the most depressing and disappointing. Episode 35 was actually so depressing, with none of their hearts being in the marraige. Hongye is so far and deeply affected by the battle that happened that he has lost sight of who he is, even though he still knows and has that instinct to protect Huaizhu.

But...the start of Episode 36, we got that feeling of the old Huaizhu and Hongye. I loved the burst of energy Hongye got when Huaizhu told him she's pregnant. You could still feel the love in that hug they shared and their tears.

Ok, I know I said that the main couple was not my fav, but I cried the most when their story ended. When Huaizhu told Hongye the truth after childbirth and then her last wish of them replaying their first meeting with the mask and everything. WHY DO THE PRODUCERS ALWAYS REPLAY EACH COUPLE'S MOMENTS!? STOP DOING THIS TO ME. "At least the heavens let me meet you." STOPPPP!! That child will grow up being so powerful, but never having any memory of his mother. Everyone was robbed of a happy ending.

I don't know what to feel about this drama. It was definitely a little bit slow at times, but I also liked the acting of these two leads a lot. The humor was also really funny, I just can't get behind the CGI and slow-mo effects. It's definitely not the most exciting drama plot-wise, but pretty simple and lighthearted.

I don't know why, but the snowboarding aspect was super fun to watch, and I loved the mentorship trope between the ML and FL. Lin Yi was much better in this drama than some of his other works. It was so sweet seeing how the FL genuinely changed the ML’s life for the better. The visuals and snowy environment were absolutely beautiful too. Honestly, when watching this, I didn't think that I would rate this drama this high. But, I thoroughly enjoyed the watch and the character development that occurred.

I loved the tension, the slowburn, and that slight enemies-to-lovers vibe between the ML and FL. I did not feel like this was a mind-blowing drama though. At times, the plot felt a little bit slow and meaningless. However, I have to say, their emotional depth for each other is what saved this drama. You can tell that they both have a different connection that allows them to constantly care for one another. Also, I loved the OST of this drama.

Awww....I love the way Lu Xingyan was willing to stay friends just to make Xingruo happy. "Relationships, phases, I don't think any of these things are as important as you. As long as you're happy, I think we're at the best stage. He's respecting her boundaries and that is the sweetest thing and most mature thing he could do at that moment. But then...what happens after that is the opposite of staying friends!! Lu Xingyan is so supportive for whatever Xingruo needs at all him. He understands her so well. Also, his confession on how he wanted to change his own perspective to tailor towards her was so thoughtful and mature. He Siyue and Shi Qin's relationship is not talked about enough. That lawyer was actually insane. The lengths she is going to for her own possessiveness actually scared me. Overall, I loved the way this drama ended, the proposal was so thoughtful and it really closed off their story. The overarching theme that I loved from Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo's story is that if people are meant to be, they will always find their way back to one another. Not only that, but constant growth and maturation from both partners will lead to an endless lifetime of support.

Umm...so I liked the aspect of the maturity and coming of age for this drama. It does capture those feelings and uncertainty of what to do. But, the plot was very basic and I didn't like the way they directed this drama. The cuts and the slow-mos were too much for me. Also, the robotic acting kind of threw me off as well. This drama started to drag after a while. But, still, overall it's cute and nostalgic, just needs more emotional depth I think.

Ugh. This drama honestly got me more annoyed with Fanxing than anything. She is supposed to be the much older one, but Yuan Song is 100x more mature in terms of their relationship. This drama did not have to be 41 episodes of her saying no and him fighting for her. Also, justice for Ye Luming. He deserved so much better. He truly cared about Fanxing and supported her in every way, but she could not reciprocate it. Even till the end, he knew Fanxing wanted to break up with her, but he did it first to save her the guilt. Plus, Cai Minmin’s voice was something I could never get used to. Fanxing’s dad getting early Alzheimer’s was heartbreaking too, but I wanted more expansion on that onto what ended up happening.

I did enjoy this drama, but it was nothing too special. I really liked how protective the ML was over the FL. But, the acting fell a little bit short for me on the side of the ML. He was really stoic and didn't show enough emotion for my liking. The gaming scenes were actually pretty cool and definitely got me hooked at times, but after a while, things started to feel a bit repetitive. The plot overall felt like it was missing something, and some episodes dragged a little. But, still a pretty good drama.

This drama was nothing special for me. I didn't care too much for the gaming storyline or the workplace. These two storylines made the drama drag on and on. Also, the constant misunderstandings got pretty frustrating after a while. It had some cute moments here and there, but overall, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression. I like the 2 lead actors, but I think they have had better works.

This drama was ok. I did not really see the plot of this K-drama. It felt really cringey and dramatized without that much emotional depth to it. The CGI also made it seem really fake. Honestly, I liked the 2nd leads more than the main leads because their chemistry felt more natural. So, personally, this was a little hard for me to get through. Although, there are some plot points and scenes that kept me entertained. Overall, not my favorite, but it's not horrible.

This was such a fun and lighthearted watch. I honestly loved the 8-ball theme too, it was so unique. The ML and FL had pretty good chemistry and the setting was really pretty with all the snow. I did love how both of them constantly supported each other and you could really see them trying to be the best they could for the other partner. I also loved how there was no unnecessary miscommunication between the 2 of them. I do have to say though, it was nothing mind-blowing and I thought the "love at first sight" thing felt a little too fake. But, overall, it was a simple and engaging drama.

BIGGEST SURPRISE!

Gank Your Heart

This was my first drama featuring wang yibo and let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all. I think his acting is so genuine and so real and he is able to portray so many different emotions and fit so many different characters. I’m definitely going to check out more of his dramas.

Man, gank your heart was an unexpected one, I can tell you that. This was only my second e-sport drama but it truly made me fall in love with the genre. I love the teambonding, the found family, and the character development that occurred. I got pretty emotional at some parts especially at the end where you can truly see everyone’s love and care for each other. Truly truly did not expect this to be one of my 10/10s, but I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. It was so interesting, kept me hooked, I love the actors, love the story, and I love the music as well so enough said.

Episode 1: I love how Ji Xiangkong’s character was introduced during the first episode. Wang Yibo’s confident face before the game was super attractive. His almost cold smoldering type. You can tell he’s so smart and the whole team can rely on him. His support for the captain regardless if they lost the championship because of him rlly shows his loyalty.

Episode 2: HAHAHHA! Wang Yibo acting all dramatic when he knew she was fooling him. He was actually concerned at the beginning, but instantly saw through her plan. Even though he knew she was trying to take advantage of them, he helped her with that drunk man without question. Ji Xiangkong is rlly a good person at heart. I love how he defended his captain too.

Episode 4: I do feel bad for Qiu Ying. That necklace was her most prized possession and no one understands that yet. She may appear shallow minded but in actuality, she has a hidden vulnerable side. I always love the familial bonds created in Esport genre dramas. Their infinite support for each other is the best bond built. I almost cried when Gu Fang announced his retirement.

Episode 7: Even though they’re still playing tricks with each other and misunderstanding each other, Jo Xiangkong is starting to warm up and vice versa. I liked how he used another user to test Qiu Ying’s attitude in responding to hate comments and then once he saw she was humble, he started helping her and giving her suggestions. If u think about Xiangkong being a pro e-sports player helping a newbie streamer, it puts into perspective the big favor he’s doing.

Episode 10: Aww Ji Xiangkong finally starting to realize that Qiu Ying wasn’t lying most of those times. Him helping her get back to the base, tucking her in, and just showing his more gentle and caring side. I do feel bad for Qiu Ying though. She was crying the whole way even when drunk and asleep and her sleep talking to her mom. It shows how much she’s hiding and dealing with herself internally and no one knows because she always carries herself in an upbeat manner. And then him settling the whole thing with having her pay 0 dollars because he knows she already lost her job and house.

Episode 13: ugh this one really broke me. Xiangkong having to leave the team to protect everyone else because he knew Zhao Yang wouldn’t ever let him go. He would always find a way to kick Xiangkong out. Li Yixuan was the one that I really feel for. Him in the rain begging Xiangkong not to leave. That whole situation was just so messed up. Yao ge also was like idek what he was thinking. How did he think it was going to end?

Episode 14: I love Xiangkong’s morals. He refused an offer from a rlly good team because he wants to play for and represent China. I also love that he’s so supportive for Qiu Ying’s dream and his little head rub he does.

Episode 22: AHHH OH MY GOODNESS. Qiu Ying literally openly confessing her feelings towards Xiangkong while at the competition. She put so much thought into her words and her constant belief in him. They understand each other and will hold on to that promise of getting to the top of the world together. Xiangkong was moved at her words too, u could tell even though his first love Miya had just recently showed up. I rlly hope he doesn’t go back to her. I loved how Xiangkong dropped everything to comfort Qiu Ying with her brothers accident. He stayed up all night even when he had a match the next day and missed talking to Miya for the last time before she flew back. Not only that, but he knew how important her passion was for her job so he talked to Luo Tian and cleared everything up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how he supports her in her job.

Episode 24: Even though Miya is back and trying to get Xiangkong to recollect their memories together just like the guitar tuning scene, I love how Xiangkong was just thinking about Qiu Ying. He recalled all of his and Qiu Ying’s moments together and set a boundary between him and Miya. U can tell he doesn’t feel the same way towards Miya but I’m afraid of the miscommunications I know is going to happen with Qiu Ying. I called it, the miscommunication happened. Why the heck is Miya such a plotting girl? That comment about Qiu Ying just being her copy five years ago was such a mean girl move. It made Qiu Ying insecure and feel like an idiot. And Xiangkong calling Qiu Ying his gf when they weren’t official was not a good move at all. It gave off the wrong meaning. But, at least the truth is out. I truly do believe that Xiangkong now likes Qiu Ying though. I don’t think it was ever a replacement thing for him. They don’t limit each other like him and Miya did. They support each other always. The gift was so thoughtful too of his motorcycle. UGHHH I know this part had to happen but it hurts my heart for the both of them.

Episode 25: that conversation that Miya had with Qiu Ying rlly rubbed me the wrong way. She bragged basically on their past relationship that’s OVER knowing that Xiangkong told her clearly that was past history. Qiu Ying trying to stay strong broke me when I knew she was hurting so much on the inside.

Episode 26: man, the public is harsh. Them blaming Qiu Ying for being a third wheeler when she literally didn’t do anything wrong. I really wish VNG would’ve let Xiangkong go help Qiu Ying bc u can see he wanted to and felt bad his matters were affecting her. Also, it was another mean girl move to announce Xiangkong and Miya’s past relationship in front of everyone. It makes Qiu Ying and Xiangkong’s life harder, it isn’t some big love declaration if Xiangkong doesn’t want it.

Episode 27: Awww the first thing that Xiangkong did when they finally talked again was put her hair behind her ear. The classic like just bf actions r making me so optimistic for their future, but they have to hurry up and chop chop on making up. And plus, her running and coming back to him shows how much care she still has for him no matter what. HIS PULL BACK AHHHH!! UGH, I LOVE WHEN PPL DO THAT. AWWW AND HIS MINI CONFESSION. “I like you. I don’t see u as a substitute for anyone. I don’t know when it started. Maybe it was during Rising Star, maybe at the convenience store. Didn’t we agree to reach the top of the world together?” And then Qiu Ying stating that she has always liked him but the publicity of him and Miya worries her. AND THEN THE FIRST KISS TO SHOW HIS LOVE!! UGHHH…HAVE CONFIDENCE IN URSELF QIU YING!! Xiangkong standing up for Qiu Ying when the Dragons team was talking smack. He was ready to fully fight them for her. I love how Yibo plays out the angry and protective side because he does it so well. And then him standing up for her when Qiu Ying got accused of leaking VNG’s tactics. AND THEN HIM PROTECTING QIU YING AND STANDING UP FOR HER TO THE ICONQUER COMMITTEE. He went and again showed how much he understands Qiu Ying’s hard work that goes into becoming a commentator and he doesn’t want anything to ruin her dream. YES YES YES!!! I love how Xiangkong finally made his big move. He said to all those reporters that he wants to be Qiu Ying’s bf and there’s nothing between him and Miya. AHHH AND THEN THE SECOND KISS!!! YES!! FINALLY THEY’RE TOGETHER.

Episode 28: Xiangkong, Pei Xi, Li Yixuan, Sun Yi, bro this team is going to be amazing. Phoenix is gonna be unstoppable. Power team, dream team, they literally have everything. Also, I love Qiu Ying and Luo Tian’s relationship and support for each other. I hope they can comment on esports again someday together.

Episode 29: oh I cried like a baby when Sun Yi’s whole support team showed up. Everyone coming together to show him his followers and how much support and care other ppl have for him. I love the found family in this drama. “For you guys, I will fight again” those words are so touching.

Episode 30: YES! Xia Ling is finally showing his strength and Pei Xi showing his compassion. I love this team!!

Episode 31: Her repairing her relationship with her dad was also the sweetest.

Episode 32: Ok but I rlly don’t like how Xiangkong reacted to the Miya situation. Like there’s no way he’s acting like that with his ex when he has a gf that is NOT MANIPULATIVE. He’s saying he’s gonna stay with her and completely dropped Qiu Ying. Come on now. After fighting that long to be with her, how is it Miya again?

Episode 35: “Today, I don’t think they’re fighting for themselves. They’re fighting and carrying the dream of 2 generations. The best moment in China gaming history.” Oh man, that part for some reason touched me so much. I broke out in tears when they’re representing the dreams of so many esport players. Ji Xiangkong used Qiu Ying’s strategy to rise to world champion. The symbolism and parallels are so touching. The whole team buys Blaze Rod and come together to win. Pei Xi sacrificed himself to buy the team more time, he learned to be a true team player. And then Sun Zeyi being the last one to carry the true team to victory. They worked perfectly together, trusted each other, and supported each other. Man, the emotions. I was sobbing during that ending scene. And then Xiangkong’s public display of appreciation for Qiu Ying, because they both truly did reach the top of the world together.
