It's also unfair because at this point only people who dropped or dislike the show leave their reviews and they…
They did mention it. It's on the right top of the review.

I think the problem lies in the script. I totally agree with you. The Sam Jang is so annoying. I find it weird…
Well, the tale about Ma Wang, General Winter, and the others are based on Journey to the West. The story about the main leads is completely made. XD.

Title A Korean Odyssey Spoiler
There is already a hint on the drama. It's the boy on the shop
I forgot which ep. The heaven guy scolds the boy at the shop: Why are you so naughty, just like your bull-headed father. Ma wang is a bull demon.

This drama has the same vibes of Masters Sun except the love is between a mortal human being and an immortal deity.…
I think the problem lies in the script. I totally agree with you. The Sam Jang is so annoying. I find it weird for a girl who is able to protect herself for 25 years but does not have any backbones and acts like a damsel in distress all the time. Journey to the West is a very interesting tales and has been used as inspirations for many dramas and movies. The Hong sisters just messed it up. Well you find the same vibe as Masters Sun because the drama is written by the same writters.

There's one point that's been missed about this subject: the average age of the Kdrama fanatics. Most of these…
Hmm.... I have to agree on some point but also disagree on some points. Yes Japan has made a lot of great movies and drama in the past. But recently I find they are stagnant (they tend to follow a certain format. like friend becomes love rival, cool popular cold-hearted guy, even the police drama has some pattern too. My complaint about j police drama, even though they are great sometimes the ending is too rush and does not feel like giving me any solution at all, like BOSS, MR Brain (the bad guy does not get caught!) Bitter Blood, etc. ). Korean in the other way has tried to develop different ideas. Have you watch Tunnel? or Signal? or Goblin? or Strong Woman Do Bong Soon? Recently Korean has made a lot of great dramas. Not all rom-com. Some are thrillers and mystery added. Tunnel is only 16 eps and based on real case of serial killer in Korea. Even in the film industry Korea has start to catch up with their independent films (means film for pure art not mainstream). I will suggest some great movie like Hello Ghost or Miracle in Cell no 7. The lead are not good looking and pure great acting and story. I'm not saying that j drama bad. But I find recent J drama is not like in the past. It becomes repetitive.

I agree about the cinematography. I think Japan is way far behind with Korea and China. I don't agree about the insta filter. You have to see Goblin or Tunnel. The cinematography is not only filter but a great use of lighting which is very difficult (I know for sure because I study film. You can't make it pop up only by computer. You have to make sure the lighting is right as well which is very difficult when you are shooting). Even in Goblin, the way they design the animation of the magic part is really amazing and high quality and they are also very creative with different camera angle. I think Japan needs to catch up with the budget of their production. It's sad because they have a lot of potentials. I watch both j-drama and k-drama. I think in term of romance, its because the culture is just so different. The way Japanese dating is more subtle compares to Korean. If you like a lot of fluffiness and more straightforward approach yes, go to K drama for romance. In term of genres, K drama has started to catch up with different kinds of idea. They made Tunnel recently and Signal. I say it was very well done. I wish J-drama also start to develop a more different idea. (I start with J drama, so after watching lots of it, you can see a lot of the same pattern of stories being made.). The only reason why I keep watching J-drama is because of their uniqueness, but if they use the same idea again and again, you will get bored. Recently its quite hard to find j drama which is good and interesting for me. (I'm not saying about old drama before 2005, but recent)
