That would make perfect sense, cause I had the feeling HD liked LY way before what was shown...Also, at the scene where LY was asking HD about his reason for fighting at the ring for her hand in marriage, he said something along the lines of 'I'm not worthy enough for you' or 'I don't deserve you', which totally confirms what the actor (Liu Yuning) who played HD said.
