I guess because the actors might not conventionally attractive at times?...say for example, if they cast actors who are not traditionally good-looking as the leads, without adding those terms in the synopsis, some might not be able to understand why these leads are so popular amongst their coworkers or why people seem to flock around them in the drama etc. because they judge the actors by their own standards of beauty rather than from the POV of the drama. In a way, it provides the basis to explain why particular things are specifically happening to the leads in the drama. Also, it could just be because it was adapted from a novel so the descriptions are mainly for readers to visualize how the leads might look like LOL
