Saw some users here said his fans being overreacting and accuse them as toxic when these people doesn't even understand what is going on in Zhang Linghe's fandom. I believe there are many such users who are also not aware of the truth and judging things with their half knowledge.

So here is some insight about the current situation:

Upon the rumour on Chasing Jade which out from few weeks ago, Zhang Linghe’s fans have asked his agency (Startimes)/studio to choose projects with good quality and also good crew where he and his character will be fairly treated. They also demand his team to protect his rights while also wisely choose projects for his career growth and how it will be beneficial for his career instead of benefiting his agency’s new actors. I saw someone said here that in The Princess Royal, there are no Startimes artist other than Zhang Linghe while in fact Startimes has brought new actors from their company in 5 of Zhang Linghe’s dramas - My Journey To You (1 artist), The Princess Royal (1 artist), Love’s Rebellion (2 artists), The Best Thing (1 artist), Our Generation (1 artist). His cfans started reacting like this because of what happened during My Journey To You time, where Gong Ziyu being weakened by deleting highlights that might strengthen his characters (Fyi, the scene where GSJ slapped Gong Ziyu was a changed made during filming and wasn't on the script, not even in the novel. It's unnecessary but Director made it to final cut and it made him ridiculed over Weibo). Not to mention the mistreatment to his character on his latest projects, The Princess Royal. Zhang Linghe being stepping stone for other actors, getting mistreatment and Startimes didn’t protect him well. The fans demand was never been taken seriously. Startimes never protect him properly from insults and hate speech and recently his fans found out the lawyer who handle his lawsuit against haters might be hired by Zhang Linghe himself and not his agency. Maybe if Startimes is treating him well, fans will not have this much complain.

Some users here think Chasing Jade problem is about the billing issue and its Female Centric story while the demand made by Zhang Linghe's cfans never mentioned about those two things. They demand and hope Zhang Linghe will have more various challenging character to be playe. Billing is never an issue for Zhang Linghe or his fans. For example, in The Princess Royal he surpasses the first billing in every aspect (refer to The Princess Royal official account for final report of drama performance and other reports that are coming from various authorized source) even when he had unfair screentime. I read some of international fans complaining similar plot and not well executed or not well promoted costume dramas these days which might also be the reason some of it aren’t doing well this year. And this is what Zhang Linghe’s cfans also stated in their demand as the Chasing Jade story and the ML character quite similar to his previous drama, not to mention the production company never produce a costume drama before so their quality in this field is still being questionable. His fans afraid if this drama will be the production company’s trial & error and Zhang Linghe will waste 120 days in Hengdian with all the hanging wires things. With his rhinitis and waist & neck pain, fans wish him to get some proper rest and treatment before joining any new crew. His cfans even said it's okay to play a small role but a challenging one in a good quality project. But his company keep pushing him to take another similar project continuously. Since 2021 until now, he barely have a month for rest. In his rest time between filming one drama to another, there will be many of brand activities. His fans demands are reasonable since these are basic things every artist should have. It's all for Zhang Linghe. Fans hope agency will wisely shape his career as an actor instead of being a cashcow with crazy schedule.

Now another point while many said Zhang Linghe himself accepted the project then why fans still having problem with it:

Anyone who follows Zhang Linghe for a long time should know he has said many times that he wants to challenge himself with different roles (villain, police, special forces, etc.). Those who are aware about C-Ent industry's culture they should know not everytime it is in artists control to choose project as per their wish and Zhang Linghe has given this hint multiple times in his various interviews. So not every project he choosed to accept, sometimes he is forced too.

There's no such thing as he lose some fans because he accept Chasing Jade. His Supertopic about to reach 2 millions members and his followers on various platforms are still increasing day by day without him having any project being aired now. Cfans only throw their anger and disappointment to Startimes and studio and NEVER to Zhang Linghe.

Many people here admire his acting as Pei Wenxuan also his visual as PWX. TMI, if his Cfans didn't complain, we might have Pei Wenxuan having bangs (similar to SRH, many disliked that hairstyle) ugly sideburn and weird placement of hair-crown for his hairstyle. Thanks to his cfans who bravely complained when his first look was leaked so we got the Pei Wenxuan with hairstyle as in the drama and there are many as such things where we enjoyed things because his Cfans being "overreacted"😉

Fans wish for the time to come when they can see Zhang Linghe being treated fairly and get the proper treatment without fans need to fight for it or maybe the day when he will leave this trashy agency who only treat him as cashcow.

This situation can happen in any fandom as I also see these days several fandoms made such demands to their idols studio or agency. But one thing I never understand is whenever it’s Zhang Linghe fans who made such demands, they will always be labelled as toxic, misogynist, etc. This fandom is the most peaceful one I've ever seen until several mistreatment and insult towards Zhang Linghe happened. They are being forced by his agency and other fandoms doings to finally chose to speak up loudly.

Hopefully, after this explanation, people will be more cautious before speaking bad things about Zhang Linghe’s fans. It's easy to point your finger on others and label them as toxic because the unfair treatment might haven't been experienced by your idols. Once it happens to yours, you will understand how it feels.
