In my opinion, overrated! I didn't like him as L, and his performance in Death Note'2015. But I know he has the acknowledge of everyone and he's working a lot...

Totally agree with 1. Takeuchi Ryoman 2. Takahashi Issei 4. Sakaguchi Kentaro 6. Kudo Asuka
7. Narita Ryo and I would add Yamada Yuki because last year was incredible active and I noticed him a year later... I hope all of them are involve in more projects.

thank you so much for bringing the topic. He deserves it, the great King Midas of jdrama, loving him. Only seeing him in a drama, makes it worth the experience. And I feel sorry I haven't seen all of him.
But please don't forget:
-One Million Stars Falling from the Sky (2002), other hairstyle. This serie made me hate him because of his role, and it was one of the first ones I saw from him.
-HERO, maybe a hairstyle similar to others in the second series, but more rebel in the oldest one (maybe old-fashion), and maybe one of his big shots as a role.
-Wakamono no Subete (1994) in which he looks, in my opinion, like Yamashita Tomohisa in the serie poster (I didn't watch it).
-and Ordinary People (1993), the one that made me love him (my favorite role). Never forget, he singing the op with the songwriter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTSldmCNS6M

Thanks for you reflection. I totally think about everything you said in the article before I choose the next drama. But I consider:
1 - actors that interest me 2 - series length (shorter better) 3 - rating 4 - plot
To see a drama takes time, so I follow this list, and sometimes I choose the opposite, and I had some good surprises. I chose, for example, Gegege no Nyobo, thinking the plot looks interesting but I dislike the actors and it's going to be 156 chapters..and I loved it. It was good for me...
It's fun when you watch different plots or the same actor in different dramas. For example, Shida Mirai, watching her in Seigi no Mikata and later in 14sai no Haha made me think that this kid hadn't had a proper childhood, and I laughed about it.
Just choose what you think you want at that moment...

Great article!
I agree in everything,... but I am not partial because I only watch J-dramas and I love them,... most of them.
And the reasons are mainly 1 and 4, really two good points for J-drama.
The other reasons as you say, people often differ.

I'm glad this year is more varied. I would like to see all the dramas i didn't watch, and some of them won....

Just one problem...how Kubota Masataka won coming actor of 2015.
I know he is great, but he has been doing main roles since 2008.

He is not one of my favourites but since i saw him in N no Tame ni, i changed, he is amazing... But Coming actor???

Thanks! great article, fantastic actor.

As you wrote, he is one of the most interesting actors because of the roles he played, all of them great and in different stories, so for, it's easy to recommend. He is not just another hot guy.

I don't know exactly, but maybe some of the struggle of his personal life made that nowadays he's not working in dramas and he's a little more active doing movies. A pity!
It is obvious, he deserves a special recognition.
