This drama is set in a time and place where the boundaries are hard. It's not like other characters in the drama does not know these boundaries. The ML, for example, never has these kinds of interactions with women in these cdramas, ever. All ML's in all cdramas miraculously know the boundaries and stick to them.

Now coming to that visit to the whorehouse, it's one of those writer being dump and crapping on FL things. She is the wife of a prince, she was not really needed to go there. There are other officers, in fact, the dude could have gone alone.

Let me ask you this, When a man, his wife and her female friend are walking, what is the normal way one would do? The wife in middle, the female and husband on either side. This drama puts the FL in middle.
When a man, his wife and her female friend go for lunch, the normal would be the wife sitting in middle, to separate the husband and female friend. Here the FL sits in middle.

The drama intentionally keeps the FL in midst of men. it;s not even subtle.

Taking modern context into a medieval setting where every character including the ML knows propriety and boundaries is bad argument.
If these dramas want to show in that period of time men and women sharing a room to sleep is normal. it should be applicable to every character, including the ML. After all, he is an officer as well. It would not be hard to show him interacting similarly with women under him, like the FL has with men around her...
