Well as long as he is the eldest son or the queen doesn't have a son, even if his mother is a concubine, he automatically become the crown prince because he's the first male child to be born and the heir (which is why in most cdrama we see concubines fighting on who have a son first) and if the queen or empress passed away, the imperial concubine or one of the lower ranking concubines will be granted title of the empress that if the emperor wishes so. If the emperor first child is a female and the second child is male, she automatically become a grand-princess and the son will be the crown prince.

I don't care what you guys say but ever since Xu Qi'an became a guardian, Wei Yuan is like his god-father. He get mads at him for doing reckless things, get very proud when he did something good, was happy he returned alive after being dead for 10 days. While Xu Qi'an admired Wei Yuan and you cannot tell me u don't realize how he is more comfortable around Wei Yuan than the Xu family. These two have a father-son relationship and I'm here for it all
