What’s really pathetic is thinking someone’s wrong just because they prefer thrillers without romance. So…
So it’s okay to complain about romance, but not liking romance is now ‘pathetic’ and ‘disrespectful’? Weird… I’ve seen people doing exactly what you’re criticizing, asking for romance in dramas without a loveline tag. Tell me: who’s really losing the argument here?
Looks like the anti-romantics are about to bash it again just because a thriller has romance, lol, they’re so…
What’s really pathetic is thinking someone’s wrong just because they prefer thrillers without romance. So should people obsessed with romance be called that too? Everyone has their own taste respecting that won’t kill u
i think we are discussing other stuff cause the main plot is well done hhh so we want to complain about something…
I'm not saying people shouldn’t complain mdl isn’t anyone’s private space, and everyone’s free to say what they want. I’ve seen people make xenophobic, sexist, racist, and homophobic comments, among other things. What I’m saying is, it’s just tiring to see the same debate over and over about whether there will be romance or not. Of course, it’s fine to talk about it, but constantly? If people want to keep discussing, that’s their choice nobody’s stopping anyone. I’m just sharing my opinion, like you said: it wouldn’t be mdl if people didn’t complain."
Let’s take a break, this place is getting way too toxic 🤡I come to the comments hoping someone will actually talk about the cases being handled in court, and nobody’s even paying attention which is basically the whole point of the show. Seriously, why get mad if it’s not like anyone’s dropping a single dollar into your bank account?
For those debating whether there will be a romance or considering dropping the show, take a look at a press coverage published by The Korea Herald (ZAPZEE, August 1, 2025). Director Kim Jae-hong commented on the drama: each episode presents a distinct story exploring different forms of love including familial love, friendship, romantic relationships, and other human bonds yet he emphasizes that the series primarily focuses on how the lawyers handle cases and help heal the emotional wounds of those involved.
Can you tell a bit more about how this Director usually keeps the ending ????
im not sure how the ending will turn out exactly, but in his other works I mentioned, the romance is very subtle and the ending is open to interpretation. Just like in Beyond the Bar, he’s using romance in a subtle, almost minimalist way, so it’s not the main focus.
Can you tell a bit more about how this Director usually keeps the ending ????
I know the director and screenwriter are different, but I’ve followed Kim Jae-hong for a while and he always keeps his own “DNA” even with different screenwriters kind of like how Park Chan wook or David Fincher have such a distinct style you can recognize it instantly. In Flex x Cop, Revenant, and Through the Darkness, he creates this sense of connection and tension between leads. A script might just say “They look at each other in silence,” but he’ll stretch the moment, change angles, focus on small details, and use sound to make it feel romantic
People need to understand that taste is subjective, and MDL is a free space. If someone doesn’t want to see any hints of romance (as some people have mentioned), that’s simply their opinion and preference no one can “force” anyone to accept it. Likewise, those who enjoy romance are totally valid too. Everyone has their own tastes, and that shouldn’t cause arguments or conflicts. If we keep criticizing each other’s preferences, we’ll just make the space toxic, and people will stop commenting out of fear of being attacked. So, let’s move on, folks!
The drama is really good. For anyone who’s followed two or three Kdramas by this director who, by the way, is one of my top four favorites u know he has his own formula, and sometimes u can predict the ending. But that doesn’t take away from its merit: this Kdrama is still a great watch. If you scroll a bit further down in the comments section, you’ll see that before the release, only 6 or 10 people were commenting. So let’s enjoy the moment, ignore the stress, and just appreciate what we’re watching. Is it really worth getting upset or angry over a comment?
This Kdrama started amid some controversy, with people trying to boycott or cancel the series or even the actor. But we’re here to enjoy it, and yet some people are still fighting… ugh.
I don’t understand why people dislike romantic elements in films so much, even when the romantic hints are minimal,…
I get that for some people, even a hint of romance can be seen as a positive, but not everyone watches dramas looking for that. In this case, the drama never promised romance, so it’s not surprising that part of the audience just wants to follow the professional story and the characters’ work dynamics.Tastes are tastes if someone isn’t into romance, they’re under no obligation to “appreciate” or accept it in every genre. Sometimes, the enjoyment comes precisely from seeing a story focused on the main plot, without having to follow the “rule” that so many K-dramas seem to have of always including romance.
I have no patience for shows that try to attract a BL audience but don’t dare to be direct. Why not just make…
If you don’t have the patience for this kind of show, then… why are you even here? The original webtoon isn’t BL, and it was never meant to be. Why should it be? Instead of complaining here, maybe take it up with the author or the director directly. Also if you’re really looking for gay couples and BL content, there are tons of great shows being released right now and even more currently airing. No need to pick fights over something that was never meant to be BL in the first place. Seriously, give it a rest.
had they made it a BL it would have gotten more higher viewership !
The original work isn’t even bl so maybe do a quick Google search before saying stuff that makes zero sense? You literally have internet access use it. If you're that desperate for bl there are tons of new releases and upcoming ones too.
A lot of people here on MDL seem to forget that this drama is just entertainment, like so many others. It's not based on true events, it’s not a documentary, and it definitely won’t affect your bank account or your health. Yet some users act like it’s something incredibly serious. They keep asking if it’s BL or not, using sarcasm, and trying to tear the drama down in every way possible. It just makes this community seem increasingly toxic. Honestly, what’s the point of commenting just to say you won’t watch it? If you didn’t like it, that’s fineno one’s forcing you. But some people are treating this like it’s a life or death issue. It’s just a drama.
