So I started YMD cause I loved FTLY versions. I like some aspects they have put in YMD though the speed/plot feels so mixmatch (I am rewatching the k-version atm hence why). Kudos the two main leads although I am not connected to them emotionally for now but they have shown me some progress esp in ep 7 I could feel Pawut's jealousy. I read some reviews & tweets about it. I feel they would prefer if the focus was on the love interests compared to the story beyond the characters. It's just nicely done how the writers got the love plot going on, family drama (the inequality), the political background and ofc urban vs small town life.
Honestly each week I wonder what they are heading towards. I do hope they'll end it nicely without any plots hanging :/

Agreed with you!! I just cant believe its only 8 episode. I find KBS short-mini series the best compared to their mid-medium/long (16s).
I read a lot who didn't like the side story concerning about the politics but I find it quite important especially in that time cause it was post-separation between the north & south.
