Also the FL was very superficial.. she loved Li Xiong but was disgusted by Kui Mu Lang. I know she overcame this eventually, but I can't help but think that she only liked him for his looks.

This drama had really good potential and started off really interesting but it didn't manage to keep that up. The FL was first depicted as this cool and independent investigator girl who helped out clearing a case in the first episode but couldn't keep up this image after getting kidnapped by the ML. So the whole story is about her crying and wanting to go back to her own kingdom. It sure had some cute and funny scenes but the plot was overall quite weak and I only ended up staying for Kui Mu Lang.

I think that description is very accurate. The plot is quite weak imo but I still watched it for the ML. He had some interesting personal struggles to deal with. You should give it a try :)

I think it's quite important for the plot that the two of them start off as childish and immature kids. This builds the base for the plot bc you can watch them grow and become mature throughout the show.

Oh, why? :o I actually really liked the character development of both of them. They were quite immature in the beginning but you can see them grow and get stronger throughout the whole show.

no, there is no typical annoying love triangle with lots of betrayals etc., the plot is mainly about the two leads overcome their problems together which strenghtens their bond and helps them grow as individuals but also as a couple.
There is a SML but he actually likes someone else, it was never serious.
There are no unnessary toxic scenes that drag to eternity, the problems are solved quite quickly. I'm just like you, I hate toxic and scheming SFL/SML :D
