I have been seeing comments of people saying it’s too romantic and what gives and anticipating the truck of death ! The reason why most of us are enjoying this is because of the ABSENCE of these tropes . If you want to see those angsty dramas where they get separated for yonks and actual trucks what not - there are many lovely options.
1. Goblin 2.Oh my Venus 3.Fated to Love You 4. Business Proposal 5. Boys over flowers .
I have seen this trope too many times and I think K Drama land can take a break
Pyung-Hwa is actually a slightly complex character in this drama. I am not even surprised she rejected his feelings at all. Lets not forget the pilot back story and the context of why she is not a purser yet . Theres stuff there and I am interested to see how the show will resolve her in the end
This show thinks it slick with the water symbolism. I see you King the Land.
Just want to say the director is really nailing the brief here. The scenes are wonderfully shot and , the charisma of the actors is duly encouraged whilst the comedic and intimate timing is ridiculously on point. I am so surprised by this especially since the first three episodes were giving cliche. King the land is outdoing itself so well in this lovely gradual manner.
The script is becoming quite self aware and subtly layered too. Loved the turn around of Gu Won and the nuance of his mom and Sarang in his choice to protect others. They could have gone a different way but this show keeps showing the considered way always. Love love love
Ahn Pan Seok is my fave KDrama Land director so I really enjoyed reading this article . I love how his shows don’t have Hollywood endings but these tough endings that actually happen in real life
This drama is so unserious . I knew it in the first episode with the helicopter scene but the trope leaden ep 5 solidified it for me . And you know what ? I am not even mad . I am here for the ride that is King the Land . It seems intentional and I have no problems with that . Also appreciate how self aware the script can be at times , highlighting the inherent classism and sexism that is in the service industry too .
I write this comment for the ones looking for a comment/review amongst the glowing 9's and 10 . I really do come in peace to just say that this is a very strong cup of tea that may not be a preferred cup as I have unfortunately found myself.
It is a hectic watch . It is a tough watch . It is also a pouty watch. All these attributes are also the charms of the drama but are also the aspects that make it a pungent tea to some. Two things can be true at the same time and that is okay too .
