I really loved this dramaš¤š«¶š»Any insta or whatsapp group where we cam discuss about chinese drama.?
I wish! I couldnāt find one so I read the novel instead. Itās different in many ways due to rebirth being central but same characters (mostly) so it did help me miss them less!
I loved this drama so much I read the novel after, and the novel was even better. I totally get why they cast who they cast now. He Yan is meant to be a bright and happy girl, and she never has the choice except to act as a man so she does the best she can at it. Zhou Ye was perfect for this. Xiao Jue is supposed to be elegant and distant but soft-hearted, Ryan Cheng was perfect for this.
I think the director must have struggled a lot with what to do since he couldnāt follow the reincarnation plot, and I found a lot of his choices questionable while I read. In the novel, it is much much clearer they are destined for each other. We also lost a lot of beautiful snowy scenes and awesome battles (Jiyang was 100x better in the novel in my opinion).
Overall though I still love both the drama and the novel. He Yan and Xiao Jue have a place in my heart, and if you miss them after this drama, I highly recommend reading the novel too!
Guys, should I watch Shadow Love or LOTFG first? I'd rather watch the one drama first that is less good and then…
LOTFG is a pretty lighthearted historical drama, itās probably my top now bc I love fun character dynamics and itās an easy rewatch. Great chemistry between leads too, not just skinship. I love the writer for Shadow Love but havenāt watched it bc her stories are starting to follow similar formulas in my mind and I can almost predict the angst arc down to the episode. Thatās my personal feeling on the two
If you like more romance, Shadow Love more better than this drama
I love the writer for Shadow Love (obviously)! But, LOTFG gave me more slice of life vibes over angst, which is what I needed. I know theyāre dramas, but I was tired of the c drama formula lately and this was refreshing (for me)
I just rewatched the controversial last couple episodes.
Again, I think this drama probably appeals to me more bc Iāve found c drama stories repetitive lately but this one is strong with chemistry and likable characters and dynamics. I like that we got lots of romantic moments and to see the couple be a couple. I hate endings that are a panned out reunion kiss.
The only other ending Iāve found as rewarding that Iāve watched is legend of shen li. The only thing I think they should have done was go 40 episodes and flesh out the final arc more, but to me, this is the best drama Iāve seen in a few years.
This is the first c drama Iāve watched in over a year without fast forwarding through anything.
The CP chemistry was best Iāve seen in a while, and the characters were fun. This is a top priority for me as a lot of dramas start to feel boring and repetitive anyway. I need to feel connected to the characters and I definitely did for this one. Iām going to miss them.
I agree the editing was choppy and there were plot holesā¦. But the story overall was still good.
Same, I really like him. Wish they will give him his own happy ending. I hope he doesnāt have to sacrifice himself…
I agree!! He is the most interesting character to me, heās so charismatic and kind. I know thereās no chance she ends up with him but I canāt help hoping!
Iām having the same feelings about SML that I did in Ashes of Love. Iām watching mostly bc of him and I am worried his story is heading somewhere bad but I know Iām going to keep watching anyway hahah
I deleted since you found it so offensive! I did feel bad for her, especially when she was practically in tears and telling ppl to give the show a chance and not avoid it bc of her.
I just came back here to say I still have not seen anyone have the same chemistry as Esther and Dylan. LGIEF was so fun and I loved it, but I wasnāt *as* convinced. I miss these two so much and am getting ready to rewatch for maybe the 6th time hahah
This is where I read it! Hope you like it!

I'm probably going to rewatch several times.
