Title A Warmed Up Love Spoiler
Kiki and Asaba are end game. Everything is building up to that, and I'm happy about it because they really bring out the best in each other—not just within their relationship but individually as well. They found each other at the right moment in time.

But it still breaks my heart to see Riho come to terms with that. ㅠ.ㅠ I knew she would be the trigger that would help Asaba realise his own feelings. This is her second go-around—she wasn't going to let herself be hurt again for the same reasons. Ironically either decision she had would lead to her hurting anyway. I really hope she finds her own happiness. I hope the same for Makoto as well, when it eventually comes.

Just finished the first episode and it seems like a fun romp. Very Sex and the City-esque. I think the fourth wall breaks and staged scenarios do a good job of translating the essence of the original column, since the author approached it in two ways: 1) the web comic detailing her real-life experiences as they happened; and 2) essays reflecting on those situations. So the direction plays with the narrative—we're seeing events as they happen, and getting her thoughts on them at the same time (and not just in the usual voice-over). Very creative.

Is this one gonna air or it is also cancelled like military of love and devil sister?
It's still airing. It just got pushed back to the 2021 slate since COVID pushed back filming (they only finished a few weeks ago).

Where can I watch it with eng subs?
CitrineSubs just started subbing this but they're only doing softsubs. You can download their subtitles from d-addicts and then pair it with the MagicStar uploads on Nyaa.si :)

There’s building blocks here for something great. The idea—a summer of self-discovery for an unlikely found family of boys, wrapped up in romantic missteps, youthful rebellion, personal healing, and small town intrigue, all set into motion by the arrival of a time-displaced WWII soldier and his fish out of water philosophies—is an intriguing one. Like the kind of light novel series for teenagers that sticks with you, if you’re the right age for it. Again, building blocks, so I don’t think they ever get to realize the premise’s full potential, but its willingness to do something more than expected sets it up for a few moments of greatness.

I was practically yelling at my screen "DON'T DO IT!" when Aobayashi started going through the chat in the third episode... [sigh] here we go again! ? I wasn't expecting there to be a potential love triangle but I'm interested to see where it might go.

Fantastic satire. Rather than over the top, I find the film mostly plays things straight—which just highlights how totally ridiculous real life politics already is. It's fast-paced, witty and remembers to have genuine heart instead of cynism (which is a mistake that I think betrays a lot of satire). It's also very gay, providing just that extra layer of reading (the macho showboating present in most strongman-type politicians vs. every "bromance" on display). The cast is top notch! I already loved every one here and they either played to their strengths (Masaki, Ryoma) or subverted my expectations (Nomura). Definitely something I might rewatch in the future.

Hmm, it's somewhat promising but I don't think it really lives up to its ambitions. I think part of it is the confused tone of direction. I haven't read the manga but the material here suggests that things should be handled rawer and grittier, rather than the coming-of-age melodrama that most shoujo go for. I actually think the through line of entrapment (each character here is "trapped" by something—expectations, trauma, past actions) is a compelling one, but it's handled too flimsily. Not to mention, as others have pointed out, the issues of the male characters are given too much weight compared to the female lead when her arc is far and above the most complex of the lot (and is pretty much the crux of the whole narrative) with layers of personal and social weight that they barely even scratch the surface of.

As a result, the epilogue just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You can't have your cake and eat it too, not when the cake is clumsily assembled and falling apart.

Does anyone get the vibe of older dramas from this? Like a KBS drama from 2010-2012.. normally I wouldn't be drawn to this sort of thing but it feels nostalgic.

I wasn't really sold on this at the start but by episode 3 I've been hooked. The whole thing seems silly at first but when Bansuk and Yeonah's lives start intertwining with each other it becomes mindless fun, then you throw in the exorcist subplot for some stakes to seal the deal. Honestly, there's a strong enough base for a full 16 episode 1-hour drama... I would certainly watch the heck out of it.

A great family drama. Its main thrust is its criticism of of tradition (a theme that recurs in the screenwriter/director's work) and so requires you to have some understanding of how patriarchy operates in traditional Chinese families, but if you're there then it's one of the best family dramas you'll see.

One of its greatest strengths is how complex its major players are—they've got their secrets but they also have clear motivations, so its hard not to feel sympathetic for them even with how messy they can be, but hey, that's family. Never perfect, but you learn to understand them at the end of the day.

A lot of heart-tugging beats and tense confrontations lead to a satisfying ending. Getting attached to this large cast is advisable if you want the most out of your viewing experience. Overall, I definitely recommend it.
