I’m on ep 27 of 36. She isn’t more mature or stronger. She just argued with Gongzi when he had to use a little girl’s weakness to save her and the whole association. He didn’t kill her; he used someone’s pity to save them. Then she’s immediately back to obsessing over Chang An and if he’s honest with her. She’s not using her “intelligence” to get her out of trouble and is still relying on the leads.

When your only choice is to kill or be killed and your shadow’s life is also in your hands, make a decision and stick to it: be kind-hearted and die together or do your job until you become powerful enough to break the cycle. She also wasn’t forced. She begged and trained to become an assassin in the beginning. The only time she may have felt forced was when Chang An showed her it was too late to back out. It’s like joining a cult or a gang. You agreed to join and now you know their secrets, so of course they wouldn’t let you out. Life is about decisions and how well you respond to the poor decisions you made.
I don’t expect spunky from her character. I expected a lot more intelligence and less wish-washy. She has done nothing but be a burden to other characters in this movie.
I don't think it's the female lead you can't stand, it's the character. The way it's written, she has to act that…
Actually I just read 12 chapters of the book that someone posted the link to here, and though it was graphic, the character was pretty well written. To each their own opinion.
Am I the only one who can’t stand the female lead? She signed up to be an assassin, but can’t bring herself to kill anyone. Also, I thought I would like her acting since she wasn’t terrible in Demon Girl, but she’s so bland here. I feel like I’ve watched this only for the 2nd male lead, which makes me sad. Don’t know if I can continue. GAH! So frustrating!
I'm watching this because it looks so much similar to Eternal Love and that is one of my top 10 favorite dramas.…
I personally enjoyed this more than TMOPB, both the drama and book. The pace is better. Also, I didn’t expect Yang Zi’s acting to be good, but she’s pulling her role off well.
I feel like Han Hyo Joo did such a good job that every other actor almost felt useless in the entire movie. Sorry,…
I actually watched this movie because I’m on a Yoo Yeon Seok binge, but found myself only blown away by Han Hyo Joo’s acting. She made me cry along with her through every heart break.
Am I the only one who hates Han Hyo Joo's character in the movie??? I mean, yes it was sad that she lost…
You obviously don’t understand the trauma a woman would go through when she finds her best friend and love of her life together behind her back. That pain can break someone mentally. No one in the reviews or comments condoned her actions, but we feel sympathy, because we understand that people make horrible mistakes when they’re heart broken. So Yool lost 2 of the most important people in her life in one night due to their poor decisions. It’s not an excuse; it’s being human and making poor decisions brought on by the ultimate betrayal. Changing your mind and falling in love with another is not wrong, but how you act out your change of heart to least hurt the person you supposedly cared for is basic etiquette. They showed her no respect and dove in without a care for So Yool. Again, no excuses for hurting someone else, but if you’re human and not just an internet troll, feel sympathy for the suffering of others. Also, you can clearly tell So Yool had to live with her regret.
do you have to say this to her? Yes, her acting is not great but she might improve. Please don't bashing…
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. What's annoying is you think someone like her ever reads or cares about my comment.
I agree with Yuuki as well. She should not be handed a lead role just because she is a famous kpop star. She should work for it (get support roles, an acting coach, etc). I'm still disappointed she got the lead of While You Were Sleeping, but I will still watch for LJS, and if she has improved, I will delete my comment. :P
I made this comment after seeing her in Uncontrollably Fond and found out she will be in While You Were Sleeping. I was never impressed by her acting and feel this way about the majority of kpop star-turned-actors. Regardless, I will watch While You Were Sleeping and hope she has improved.
