Still cannot get over this drama, especially the first 20 episodes. I am just amazed by the ML's character, the book writer surely knows what a girl expect from a relationship: respect, security and caring. Sima Jiao can never exist in reality. Both actor/actress have enormous range and potential since they are so young and already showed insane versatility. Yes, Arthus Chen is a nepo baby with privileges, but he is so talented and has worked so damn hard. It's a pity that this drama is not recognized enough in mainland China because of bias and marketing fatigue. Last time I was so invested with a drama was with the Untamed (now way over it). I think this drama can have more of a long term effect to it.

The ML and FL in this one is textbook definition of a couple who have uncanny chemistry. Kudos to Arthur, the portrayal of grand master Shima Jiao is fantastic. I especially like his own voice in this one, so sexy, masculine and dominant. Yinglu is a breath of fresh air. I watched her in I'm nobody, she was great in that show, too. Too bad, the writers messed it up in the latter part of this show by stuffing too many pointless characters and too many sob scenes. Despite the plot flaws, this has been a joy ride just be because of it cp works, we would like to see more future work of them together.

Turtoilets are really toilets in guise. They are the most disgusting creatures, trample on xz, worship wyb, yet they claim to be fans of both, how hypocritical and poisonous. Why won't they admit that they are only solo fans to the desperate illiterate? After all, they are just like their idol who is a backstabbing, always scheming to harm xz while they have the chance. Just believe in Karma, it will find them and their fav.

I KNOW RIGHT. You can sense the smell of toilet when someone age-shame the ML, everytime it turns out to be the fan of the desperately illiterate WYB. I giggled like a little girl while watching their romance scenes. I think they are more subtle and clever than your usual love interest stories. There are not any love triangle, jealousy, accidental kiss or childish quarrels cliche. However, some may complain about the lack of development or slow pace of their scenes together. They just don't feel the same with us.

Chinese censorship is strictly against superstition and supernatural stuff, it's not that the writers are lazy, they need to play along with the rules.

The translation of Tibetan Sea is quite inaccurate here. ZANG “藏“ has dual ponunciations. 西藏 means Tibet in Chinese. 海 means sea. However, 藏海 in this drama is just a made up name for the ML. It does not have anything to do with Tibetan Sea. The name just foreshadow the ML's mysterious background, "hidden in the sea of people".

I had fun reading the comments on zhz here. Zhz is very well received by Chinese audience. I'd really like to know that if it is popular internationlly, since it is aired on Disney+. There are many historical and traditional elements in this drama, I'm afraid that a lot of essence in the show would be lost in translation. It is not a typical ancient period series or romance show. From what I see on this website, I found that the most popular Cdrama here are all romance/love interest dramas. Xiaozhan used to top the popularity chart here when the untamed was released. Now I see the ranks vary. Anyway, I think this drama can be a great boost for xz's career, I really like his potrayal of this complicated character Zanghai, a determined, driven and witted avenger. And I also like the romance line in this drama, a strong FL, who can fight and have great chemistry with the ML.
