I just don't like the open-ended ending. It doesn't justify their characters

can somebody explain the ending? I get the interconnection of characters but what's the relevance of the fish dropping from the sky? Why do they have to make it symbolic? so Renzo's partner really died ahead of the end of the world thru OD? Then the rest of the guys just died while resolving their past issues?

1. What happened to Kim Hyeon Joo, Kim Cheol Soo and the solider, were they killed?
2. The flock of halfbies, what are they eating now?
3. How can they contain the halfbies, there are mountains around that could lead to other cities unless Hyosan is an isolated island?
4. How come the Prime Minister is not involved?

?? got confused. So Will bay and the other guy know each other and had something in the past? Why did the other guy then rape her girl friend if he is into gay relationship?
