The Fox and his beloved story is part of the FSMM. What is not, is the story of badass QT and her crazy ass brother. Script writer had to stretch to story by adding this arc and stupid separation of the main couple.
The drams was never going to be about only FG and QT love story. Just like the other 2 parts it focus also on other couples as well.
