I also liked him in that drama, I remember thinking it was a pity he didn't have more scenes. Until now I have only seen him play second roles, but I reckon he would be good as a ML (rom com in an ancient setting was exactly what I had envisaged for him in a leading role🙂).

(I won't comment on the "accidental " rape, or why CRF accepted this role, I'll only say I wouldn't recommend this drama for teenagers or naive young ladies, because it is bad educational material about relationships - though a quite enjoyable watch, to be honest).
Just wanted to mention that the ML's assistant has some interesting lines and has a good presence, overall. Couldn't find the actor's name though, if anyone knows him, I'd be obliged!

It gets much much better very quickly, mainly because the ML adores her and she accepts him. It has one or two nasty scenes later on, but they overcome all difficulties without any losses.
At around 1:47:00 (scene from their long past schooldays) there is a Chen Ruifeng self-referential"inside " joke, and the way she (FL) says it is so-so-so cute!!!

His character is very important for the story, he gets plenty of screen time, and has character depth layers as in an actual film; nothing like the usual flat 2MLs in short dramas.
Now that I come to think of it, he develops into a more complicated and multi-layered character than the ML. And Jason Xu does carry the character seamlessly all the way.

Dear everyone, I just found this dance performance by CRF and it made my eyes cry. He is a very charismatic dancer, really graceful and expressive. I would much-much rather watch him in ballet performances than in dramas.
