I think if we go by the literally definition of makjang 70-80% kdramas will come under the category. Most kdramas are over dramatic and unrealistic. There are very few dramas that are real and down to earth. Crash landing on you which is considered to be a rom com can look like a makjang if we consider the unrealistic storyline and the FLs crazy family. Iotnbo also have elements that can be considered to be a total makjang. The end suspense is a total makjang thing. Flower of evil can be considered to be makjang as well. I haven't watched itaewon class but the overall synopsis is of an ordinary regular guy going up against rich villains and he fails a few times in the process and looses a lot. I am pretty sure the villains might have been as crazy as the ones in little women.
I don't get why sky castle is considered to be a makjang either. The reason why it got attention in the first place is because of the realistic educational system in korea shown in that drama.
But generally a drama with a top male lead won't be considered a makjang no matter how overdramatic it is.
Like Taylor Swift said men reacts but women can only over react.

Vincenzo also had characters with not a clear moral compass. The female lead was corrupt and the main lead was a bad guy. Its just that the villains were evil and he looked better in front of them. All the people living in that building including monks wanted money. I think the only one with a strong moral compass was the FL's father who gets killed. Vincenzo had more funny scenes and didn't look as dark as this one. It had more mainstream elements. The villains in Vincenzo were way more dramatic and gave over the top reactions than the once in little women. There were way more brutal in killing their rivals, infact there were mass murders in it. But the crazy villain was a very hot guy and not a middle aged man like PJS. Vincenzo also had style and machoism in it.
More than makjang, little women reminds me of the movie handmaiden. The FLs were naive compared to the bad guys and the villains were too evil but at the end they manage to outsmart them all. If it's made into a drama it will come off as a makjang.
In makjangs the most important characters will be played by women and they all will be flawed. Skycastle, penthouse, world of the married all had female characters in the front line. In that sense little women does look like a makjang.

I guess it has a lot to do with Dan tae being here 😂.
In kdrama suspense thrillers everyone looks suspicious and can't be trusted except the leads.
Everyone being connected to each other is a typical kdrama suspense thriller troop. I have seen that in almost all suspense thriller kdramas i have seen. Everyone being connected to each other in suspense drama is as common in suspense thriller as leads having childhood connection in kdrama rom-coms 😂.
The crazy rich family is actually crazy but then if there are rich families as villains in kdramas they have to be crazy af. Will have secret rooms, secret societies, secret children and fully corrupt background. 90% of kdramas will have it. Even the rich family of crash landing on you which is a rom-com also had twisted crazy family.

In Kyung admitted that she should have been less impulsive. She is learning from her mistakes.
At that time she thought exposing pjs in front of the media is the best thing and we have seen plenty of dramas where the lead guy does the same. It was there in Vincenzo as well and the villains got away with it. In Vincenzo, there were times when someone like vinzenco got his plans backfired and nobody had a problem with it. If Vincenzo can fail multiple times before bringing down the villains then in Kyung can definitely fail.

HW and the manager didn't die because of the sisters. In Kyung also have nothing to do with the death of that guy. She was asking to meet a guy who called her up 4 years ago. In Kyung clearly belongs to the category of people that don't get afraid of death threads. There are 100s of journalists around the world that gets death threads on a daily basis and they still do their job. Do you know that the journalist who exposed Panama papers got killed in a car bomb? She perfectly exposed names of richest people around the world and still got killed. Once someone becomes an investigation journalist they are putting their life in the line. Do you think all those famous investigation journalist exposed corrupt people without making any mistakes and always making the right moves or without loosing anything in their lives?
The 70B is in the form of assets and are deposited in banks under her name unlike the 2B cash she had. HW already made those 70B slush funds into white money. She got 2B won in cash out of the
blue and what can she do with that much cash? It cannot be deposited in banks or she can go around buying things that requires tax or legal means. At the end she did come up with the best solution. Giving it to her aunt. She has a business running. Its not that hard to make black money into white money for her. But things didn't work out as she planned because she had no idea what she was up against.

I don't see any makjang element in this. There is nothing overdramatic or over the top acting. Its like any other suspense thriller kdrama with flawed FLs rather than MLs.
Pjs and family reminds me of the rich family from K2 rather than penthouse. If we take away all the action from K2 it can also be categorised under makjang if this can be put under that category. K2 also had a businessman running for presidency with somewhat crazy wife and a traumatized daughter. The difference is that the ML was a highly trained army man who ends up being a bodyguard and has ji Chang wook's face and body 😂. Since he already a well trained professional without anything to loss he was as smart as the villains. Here the girls are naive and ordinary who don't have
any experience playing with fire.
The sisters have put themselves in danger but till now they weren't aware how dangerous the villains are. Till now in Kyung thought she just have to bring down a shaddy businessman trying to become a politician. Its only in ep 6 she understood how big all of this is. She is up against an entire organization of rich and powerful people.
In Joo was only thinking about getting her hand on the money. She wasn't seeing anything other than the money. She also started to realise the deep shit she is in right now.

Might be possible or he knows who killed her. She was the few people associated to that organisation to be still alive. So whoever is heading that organisation might have people to watch out the remaining members. The cook might have been there to keep an eye on her. Once they get the slightest idea that one of the members can be dangerous to the organization they will kill them off. Too many of its members are already dead. Even the general who supposedly started all of this is in coma.

Songa and PJS have mastered the art of manipulation and people want 3 ordinary women to bring them down within 6 episodes without making a single wrong move🙄.
Sanga definitely is completely crazy. She should be the one in the asylum instead of her brother. 😂

She don't have any hatred or grudge against her aunt.
Its not possible that the orchid can make someone do something they never wanted to do. Its not like some spell or her getting hypnotised by someone and told her to do so.
How can an orchid make people kill exactly the person the villains want dead? It simply gives hallucinations and make people dizzy.
We only saw in Joo siting with the aunt on her lap. She might have sleep walked and saw the aunt lying on the floor and picked her up.

In Joo wanted to give 2B to her aunt and buy a house. That's the only thing she can do with that money. Its illegal money. She cannot go and deposit it in a bank. Her sister was in the hospital and she didn't hear cho do Il properly as she was already in the lift. In Joo is naive and it's very real if a person who never had money suddenly gets 2B illegal money and don't know what to do with it. Once she settled down, she thought of asking help from the aunt and that's a smart move.
In Kyung don't have time to come up with a plan and wait for PJS to take the bait. Whatever she has to do she has to do before the elections. He is already way too powerful for her to take him down and once he becomes the mayor he will be untouchable. She got solid information against him and exposed him in front of the media. Isn't that what almost everyone will do. She was just unlucky that pjs is always way ahead of her. He himself is clever and manipulative and then has tons of people working for him who. She is an inexperienced journalist and pjs is the first powerful person she is going up against whereas pjs has faced people like in Kyung multiple times. She is young and impulsive. There is nothing wrong with it. People learn from experience only.
She never said she wanted people around her to die without food. She would rather die poor than become rich by illegal means and there is nothing wrong in having strong principles. She did bend down when her sister's life was in danger and agreed to use in Joo's money. Should she have stood there and let PJS pay for her sister and use it to his advantage? She would rather take her aunt's money and she did that in turn of working for the aunt. She has been doing something she don't want to do for her sisters.

She don't fall in love. They have a mentor mentee relationship. She is underaged and he is in his 30s.

Male characters can be vulnerable, impulsive, hot tempered, anti heros, villains, flawed characters, arrogant, selfish and everything under the sun and it's totally fine.
Female characters shouldnt do any wrong and should be strong and savage and should kiss the path the ML walks. She cannot do or say anything that can put herself in danger.

I Googled and the blue orchids are very rare but looks different from what's shown in the drama. It is categorised under red or rare. It don't grow in large numbers and that's why its rare.

Every human being is different. If 100 people are put in a same situation they all will behave in 100 different ways. If every single person behaved the same way what's the difference between human being and robots.

She grew up without being worried about money unlike in Joo or in hye. What mattered to her was self respect and dignity which were always questioned in the society she grew up in. Its said that she was always the first one to be doubted if something gets stolen at her class. So it's very much understandable why she is so morally uptight and has high principles.
Its also very much understandable why in Joo is so obsessed with money and why her brain stopped working after getting so much money.

She was the oldest and seeing how her parents are she never had anyone to look after her. In Kyung had great aunt who gave her good education and in Hye is an inborn artist who had 2 sisters to look after her. I think it's said in an earlier episode that she only did some basic course on accounting and don't have enough education to brag about. it's very hard for a woman to have a successful career in a society like Korea with an educational background like that. So the easiest way for her to have a comfortable like is to marry a rich guy.
In Joo right now is conflicted between doing the right thing and getting what she wanted from childhood. She can either choose to bring justice to her dead friend or live a comfortable life at the expense of her dead friend. She also have to think about her sisters and keep them safe. No matter what she chooses to do she will somehow put her sisters in danger. Whether its bringing justice to HW or running away with the money she will have to go against PJS and family.

The initial money to invest was given by her aunt and she didn't want to take anything related to her aunt. Then she never made enough money of her own to invest in stock market. She fears if she gets the high of money she will end up becoming like her aunt who don't see anything beyond money.
Unlike her sisters, she don't think the solution to everything is money as she never grew up in the kind of environment her sisters grew up in.

Both in Joo and in Kyung are learning from their mistakes as well. I would have been annoyed with in Kyung if she was a well experienced journalist who had multiple experiences of dealing with people like pjs. But she is not. Everyone learns to walk by falling down 2-3 times and they learn to run after learning to walk properly. Why do some people expect in Joo and in Kyung to be super smart and clever and always a step ahead of people like pjs who are already masters at everything
evil?
Pjs is already way too high and if he becomes the mayor then he will be untouchable for someone like in Kyung.
If bringing down powerful corrupt people then the world would have been a better place.

This is the first episode i am seeing potential in in hye and i didn't dislike her. She clearly is upto something but like her sisters she isn't aware of the danger she is gonna put herself in.
Pjs and sanga are so twisted and crazy that I don't even trust their daughter hyorin 😂. If she is their biological daughter then i won't trust her till the last scene of this drama 😂

I am gonna miss the aunt.
In Kyung will finally understand her aunt and might start being more calm and clever. Till now she didn't had an idea of how dangerous everything is and was being an idealistic person trying to bring down pjs. She wasn't thinking of the consequences. After the warning from the aunt and seeing someone close to her getting killed she will realise what exactly she is up against. Till now she thought she is up against a corrupt politician but now she realised he was just the tip of an iceberg and she is up against an entire system filled with powerful people. Something that has been there even before pjs entered the game.
In Joo and in Kyung are finally realising the potential of their rivals. They till now wasn't expecting anything this big and thought they can get out of this unharmed.
