Title Royal Betrothal Spoiler
Episodes 9-12 = The story makes absolutely no sense;

1. The female protagonist (FL) is new to the capital.

2. FL doesn't know everyone in the capital.

3. However, the male protagonist (ML) appoints her as the new head of the intelligence bureau.

4. Initially, I thought the intelligence bureau was originally a merger of many other state institutions. But then, FL was told to start from scratch, completely empty—all the staff, the bureau building, etc.

5. Meanwhile, FL is only accompanied by two assistants, a man and a woman, who both can't use a single weapon and have no martial arts skills. It turns out that FL is just as poor in self-defense.

6. To make matters worse, FL doesn't have her own special forces, but can only temporarily borrow them from the emperor's special forces.

7. So, FL went about searching for intelligence, but he couldn't do anything alone with his two assistants. And often, when he went out into the field, he had to rely on the emperor's own troops for help.

WTF, is that a crap storyline?

Isn’t this drama based on fictional work?
Because studying the ancient history of mainland China is full of fascinating things, one of which is the education system, including the administration of state examinations by the ruling empire at the time.

The historical facts described above are a very sad reality, so fictional historical stories appear in various mainland Chinese TV series today to cover up the dark realities, such as those that discuss the imperial state examinations for women.

This contradiction, for me, is actually one of the unique aspects of watching this genre of TV series.

Now I ask you back:

why are you angry about the historical facts above, ma'am? ^^

in reality;

Officially, in the history of ancient Chinese empires, none of the mainstream imperial dynasties (such as the Tang, Song, Ming, or Qing) opened the imperial examination (Keju) system to women. Throughout the more than 1,300-year history of imperial examinations (from the Sui era to the early 20th century), this bureaucratic system was strictly male-only.

However, there are two important historical accounts that intersect with women's participation in imperial examinations outside the traditional imperial dynastic system:

1. The Reign of Wu Zetian (Tang Dynasty / Second Zhou)
Context: Wu Zetian was the only female emperor in Chinese history to wield absolute power (she even established her own dynasty, the Zhou, in the middle of the Tang Dynasty).

Exam Facts: Although she strongly supported and expanded the imperial examination (Keju) system to weaken the military nobility and promote meritocracy, she never legalized the examinations for women. Women remained prohibited from registering for or taking the official imperial examinations during her reign. Nevertheless, his progressive policies towards equal education and opportunities for women in the palace significantly increased.

2. The Taiping Rebellion (Taiping Tianguo) during the Qing Dynasty
Context: The Taiping Rebellion was a major armed rebellion against the Qing Dynasty in the 19th century (1850–1864).

Exam Facts: The Taiping rebel regime was the first entity in Chinese history to officially open the civil service examinations to women.

Notable Figures: The Taiping regime's women-only examination system led to the birth of Fu Shanxiang, the first woman in Chinese history to achieve the highest rank (Zhuangyuan) in the rebel-style civil service examinations. However, this regime was a rival government and was ultimately suppressed by the Qing Empire.

3. Before Sui dynasty, there is no imperial examination for women too.

While that was the most painful divorce I have seen so far in cdrama, it did seem awfully easy to do and thus…
for this tv series, that divorce arc its very nonsense/does not make sense at all, especially for the storyline in last 10 episode !
