First comment ever on here! šI just wanted to say: Deng Wei was sooo much better for her, through the WHOLE…
I lol at your rant because I just watched this and I feel the same way! Jack was clearly the superior choice in every way, but noooooo...she had to stay with the other dork. And who could ever not change their minds after seeing Deng Wei cry? For real, I've never seen a person cry so beautifully. Ever ever. He's a painting, a study in sadness. So freaking gorgeous, I can't imagine ever letting him go in the film. 'Realistically' after Jack gets respawned in the game, she'd be like 'oh wooooow Jack I can touch you now?' and they'd hit it until they couldn't stand up anymore! And maybe kill the prince, get out of the game, and she meets up with Jack irl. I wonder if that indeed is how it was originally written, but they had to change it bc censors. (poor prince, he wasn't bad, but he just can't compare!) Very damn frustrating! Seemed like a missed opportunity.
I didn't want to watch this at first (bc stupid title), but I was pleasantly surprised as it turned out a lot better than expected. The plot wasn't bad, and it was pretty okayfine engaging (waaaaaaay better than Journey of Chong Zi, which was a disaster for the most part imo and just hard to watch). The acting was decent for the most part, the and FL didn't annoy me as much as others do. But let's be honest, the reason I'm here is for Deng Wei. His character was absolutely heartbreaking, and Deng Wei's doing what he excels at: being lost/sad/confused/devastated and crying. q_q
He doesn't emote much, but when he does the sun and the moon mourn with him. Nobody I've seen cries like him, and it shatters me every time. It's so heartbreaking to thing such a beautiful creature - inside and out - couldn't even touch the one he loves more than the universe. He was locked away in darkness for ages, just so she could be with her NPC boyfriend. He even deleted all his memories and got respawned in the game as an NPC, just to be near her. And she still was like 'ummm no' to him and went for the dour prince anyway. Like...what? (Okay fine, weirdo, he's waaaay too good for you anyway!) And seeing Deng Wei in a fuzzy raccoon tail hat is worth watching this show just for that!
I wish I could see him in more of these heartbreaking roles. It's truly his secret sauce, and whenever he plays them, he absolutely steals the show and creates an unforgettable performance.
For me, it felt believable for Su Yi Shui to fall for Mu Qing Ge, because on his birthday, he tried going back…
I think it would have helped a lot if they had grubbed him up a lot, made him look super shitty. he comes in all dressed in princely robes, not looking abused or anything. maybe more blood capsules maybe would've helped lol. instead he doesn't look like he's suffered at all, he still has all the trappings and bearings of a prince. he doesn't look like he's considered a second-class citizen, despite whatever teasing he bears. he still has favor. anyway, a lot could have been done to sell the 'why?' in this. think more 'john snow' where he is clearly considered a bastard and has to look after horses and stuff, is a lot more down to earth than the rest of his family.

i guess that makes sense. i don't know why it didn't land, perhaps his isolation didn't land as much as it should have for me. Perhaps the concept of him being mistreated by the female sex was somewhat unrealistic because he is so good looking, running around looking amazing. It's hard for me to believe he didn't have ladies being nice to him all his life, despite his mother. Btw, isn't he from a town called 'hohhot'? i don't know if it's pronounced 'ha-hawt' or 'ho-hot', but either way...!!! lol
did they got together very quick? cause i want them to take a while to have feelings especially if the ML is cold…
She didn't remember him at all, but was mysteriously overwhelmingly attracted to him (yeah I wonder why!) he became her master and she became the disciple. he had to ignore her for a while because issues, and pretend like he didn't like her for a long time.
this mf-er gives all the b*tches the vapors! *faint* funny thing is though, he looks pretty regular in modern clothes, there are some modern dramas he's in and dude doesn't stand out at all. that hanfu is next-level magic for him, it's wild how he transforms. i like seeing him in those because i can remind myself that he's just kind of dorky-cute irl, with no make-up, bad hair, no set lighting, etc. (ask yourself next time you see an a solid 6 or 7 on the street, "what would he look like in hanfu?" if he's nice to you, give him a chance! with some styling, he could be another deng wei! lol)

The version I watched started in the past life, I think there are two versions where one starts in the present life and flashes back. I think that would have made more sense to me, a little more anyway! But yeah if I had magical powers, I'd yoink that boy onto my mountain no doubt!

Sorta, I mean maybe it was over the course of years technically, but I didn't buy the initial love story. There were no trauma bonding moments or anything that made me buy it. She just thought he was hot, trapped him in for a few years, and then he just eventually liked her. No other reasons, just he was really, really, really hot, trapped on a mountain with her, and she was...around and persistent. o_0 Then he was ready to sacrifice his soul for her. Didn't really land imo. (even if it is actually a pretty realistic scenario, hot boys are easier to catch than you think!)
I liked this. I loved Ye Shiqi when he was still Ye Shiqi, what a heart-meltingly sweet role and Deng Wei had the look to match it. Tian Janci as Xiang Liu was absolute fire, man I just wish she had actually hooked up with him, just for at least one night of explosive sex! (Take it for the team lady! Do the bad thing for once ffs!) I had to fast forward past all the political plotting - all that was not very interesting to me. Also the FL just got on my nerves quite a bit as the show progressed, I don't know how I felt about her. She didn't deserve either of those guys, she was a bit of a dull Mary Sue despite her medical prowess. Still, it's a solid like considering how much fast forwarding I had to do. If I watch it again, it's just for the sweet honey-bunny Ye Shiqi (not Tushan Jing, that guy was boring) and sex-on-wheels Xiang Liu.
This is a new side of Deng Lin I've seen contrary to Ye Chi Qi from lost you forever. He's not the obedient beta…
I prefer him in supporting roles, honestly. I still felt like it was kind of hard for him to carry the lead, especially in the middle. The energy wasn't there, but I guess that might be the fault of the story. He was amazing towards the end though, it felt like he finally got used to the role of being an "alpha". Still I feel that him in the background, being sweet, is kind of his magic sauce. I noticed him way more as Ye Shiqi than as this guy, who was just in my face being all sexy the whole time. I don't know why I feel that way.
Another shitty plotline molded after hua qian gu. These stories are such a mind f. I'm going to bend your will…
I know that part really annoyed me, I wish there could have been more consent on his behalf. MQ just sort was like 'I like the pretty ones', yoinked him out of his real life with her magic powers and he just sort of...fell in love with her even though he was the Demon Lord? I didn't buy the whole set up at all.
Spot on! Me too! Usually is the bullshit angst and endlessmisunderstandings that make your brain rot. And turn…
Yes I enjoyed how they managed to communicate like normal people and how Qinngue was pretty direct, it made it so much more enjoyable than unspoken words and romantic tension til everyone dies of not getting laid. This was much better.
For those who haven't watched this drama yet, this drama has 2 versions, one that was aired first and one that…
Which version is on Iqiyi? I didn't like the set up of the first few episodes, I thought it felt clunky and not really believable with them falling in love.
