most probably bcs of chi wen. when YWH first met JL, he was just a fox who have simple magic from CW. He couldn't have turn into a human, so when YWH were mad bcs JL didn't save YXZ, JL couldn't tell him it was his power and he ran out of if, so im assuming maybe CW saved JL from YWH, before clarifying things with YWH bcs in the end both of them were brought into shilin sect and YWH watched JL grew up as the fake Long Shen. maybe we'll have our answers in the next episodes
