Mistakes feel bigger when your loved ones are criticizing or scolding you. She loves him we have all seen that. Also, she was working hard to upgrade her position. Her career and love both clashed at one mistake. He was disappointed ( i mean who wouldn't be) and actually punished her where deep down wanted his favor. She wants to be special to him but she also realizes that it was her mistake. And hence she felt like this. That's how I understood her words.
