Being a male i didn't but it was an emotional scene, reminded me off when i first met my biological mother after the laws here were changed so that mothers who gave up kids for adoption could look for them (through a Govt agency that was created , the govt still had all original birth records and adoption ones as well), i told her straight out at our first meeting "Don't ever expect me too call you mum because your not, i can acknowledge you as my mother because you carried and gave birth to me, but my mum is the 1 who adopted me at 2 weeks old and brought me up with all the drama's etc".

She was fine with that because it was not what she wanted she just wanted to meet me even if it was only once, we had a good relationship up until she passed away from cancer in 2019 (we first met in 1987) and i still get on very well with my younger biological siblings.
