Please accept that not everyone hated Overdo, I pretty much liked it. It could have been better but still it was a very flowing one, didn't bore me to death like so many dramas these days. I can't count on my fingers and toes that how many I dropped, including highly rated ones like the First Jasmine or Against the Current or most recently the Demon Hunter's romance, they bored me to hell. Can't wait for this, my hopes are high, I would love another City of Streamer or even an Overdo.

City of Streamers was absolutely one of my favourites drama, still rewatch it from time to time, I liked almost everything, the script, the intensity, the customs and styles, the intro, their irresistible hot love scenes, was a bit disappointed with the ending but still was ok.

We haven't even seen it.... Or have you? I mean how can be a drama trashed so badly without seeing it first the parts in CONTEXT.

What part was so abusing? I would call it intense. If they wouldn't have loved each other they wouldn't had ended in the same bed without force - but they did. Hence it was not so abusive to make the other to remember that 'we loved each other, you betrayed me but I still hope and make you remember...'. As about toxic relations, for some of us that's called life, reality, etc. Toxic mother, toxic sister, hypocritical, selfish people trying to force their will to another to use and take advantage of the other - much more realistic than the cheesy stuff meant for 14 yrs or below. It reminds me the part from LYF, we measure our happiness or sadness with comparing our life to others, like: I can made up my suffering a bit to feel you better - nah, this is how a drama like OVERDO could drive me into the story.

Then they will use the SE one for sure. Always do.

Overdo was not so bad, it was just a bit too fast, not leaving place to feel the appropriate emotions but still, I quite liked it. The opposite side is the Against the Current what I dropped as found too slow, too dumb and too boring. I would give 7.5 or so to Overdo while a max 4 to the other.
Let's pray it will be good, as the First Jasmine was the another huge failure to me, no matter the overall rating (I don't believe to ratings anymore here), boring, life-less mess and poor Cheng Lei is usually great, can't wait to see him in a good drama but a wasted opportunity again.

Can't see why. She really likes the guy and wants to keep him safe, it looked they had no chance of a future together, hence she kept her feelings at bay - at least that was how it felt to me. Why does it matter the character is hated or not? It's such dumb and childish approach - I don't mean you but those who you are referring.
She felt like a realistic one, an intelligent one but if she wouldn't have been the other parts of the drama, that how she tried to prevent the total extinction of her line and their power would have been unrealistic. Dumb people can't play the chess of politics/strategy well.

I was half way or so when stopped reading the novel, simply because English is not my first and after a double translation it has become really awfully distractive to find out who talks to whom (constant errors of personal pronounce and also the off-meaning of the sentences due to mixed order of words), I wish someone could translate it to English but a dumb software (AI maybe?) unable to follow intelligently the meanings.
The novel seems good and well (sophisticatedly) written, to that part I stopped it was really a one sided love or rather the princess surpassed her feelings because she knew she must accept a political driven marriage and also because of the fear of safety of Xiao Li.
I agree with you, I don't mind dramas with heavy politics, without it 30-40 episodes of romance just unbearably cheesy and boring to me.

I've just started to rewatch, I love it, I love that the romance is slow and that heavy on politics, it makes the drama a bit more realistic, apart from one issue (little spoiler) the 'double'/copy-cat part.

I also gave up on Love and Crown, his acting was phenomenal but the silliness of fl / script was unbearable to me.

Interesting how differently we can interpret what we see, for me it was not an OE but a HE. She found him, she was travelling on the same boat, she had the chance to follow him and to introduce herself and restart. As they fell in love once, there was a good chance they would again.

Thank you for the additional info. It doesn't have to be a pneumonia, I caught a lot in dense e-smog, eg on airports and planes, so bad I had to wear a device in my neck releasing electrons which helps a bit. But of course I understand .
