I agree with the analysis of Dr.Ahn's intentions. Yes, he was out of line trying to relentlessy pursue Song-Hwa despite her turning him down. But what he did was clearly highlighted as a negative thing. On the other hand, IkJun proposing only because he considered Ahn Chi-Yong as a rival is a bit of a stretch. I mean, both him and Song-hwa were pining for each other since they first met in college. He just avoided proposing to her earlier because he was being a good friend to Yang Soek hyung, but now that they were in a place to support each other, he proposed to her, and she rejected him, but realised over due course of time that she regreted her decision. So she went back and proposed to him herself, as any independent, emotionally strong woman would do.
And that body language analysis surprised me! I mean, where exactly did that interpretation come from?! And consoling someone doesn't always include actively talking to the other person, but just being there for them is enough in some situations.
I do realise that I am actively debating your point of view (which you are completely entitled to have), but I am doing so because I felt that your review was a pretty cynical description of a show which is actively trying to do the exact opposite of what you were protesting...It actively promoted strong, resilient and independant women.
I know the darkness in this world seems vast, but you gotta realise that the bright sparks are evidence of light and not a byproduct of the darkness...

Hi! I understand the fact that "rape culture" unfortunately does exist in the present society. But what I don't understand is where in the drama this culture was directly or indirectly shown...If you don't mind me asking, can you just mention one instance in their (IkJun and SongHwa) relationship which looked like it was promoting rape culture? Didn't mean to impose, I am genuinely curious. And I didn't mean to sound condescending in my previous comment. My apologies if I did.
Hi! I just came across this comment because I was scrolling through the reviews section looking for reviews which were actually impartial, and rated while keeping the gem that is Season 1 in mind. Though I felt S2 was bloated and deserved somewhere between 7-9 stars, I was taken aback by the use of the word "rape" in context of this show! Because quite frankly, the rejection was taken very maturely, and they (IkJun and SongHwa) just got back to how they used to be pre-rejection. I haven't seen any scene which showed IkJun forcing, or even pleading SongHwa to reconsider her decision. She made her decision all on her own, and he went along with the outcome, come what may! The only fault I found in their relation was the fact that they both were quite bad at communicating how they felt about each other during their 20+ years long friendship. I do hope you realize that words like rape shouldn't be used so easily. They do a huge disservice to the writers intended intentions.
P.S. I thought those scenes from their past made it pretty clear that Song-Hwa was seriously interested in IkJun as much as he was in her...did you maybe miss those scenes?
