Okay I know people come here to ask about the ending but the wardrobe in this drama is just horrible. Every single outfit has me going "whyyyy", but the ball dresses take the cake I don't know if it's made so to look like tacky generical girl's comics, if it's supposed to be He Jie's own bad taste (he did draw all of it) or if it's cheap production values so I should just let it be, but damn
Second episode and my girl Yao Yao learned to wear pants to work, I'm so proud
Update: I am now somehow in episode 6. I just keep playing the next episode so I can see Bo Jin Yan being awkward Reader, if you are on the fence on this one, but would enjoy a gorgeous genius being awkward and arrogant, watch it
Just to enlighten people that might come into the comments to get a feel of the series: * this is 100% wuxia, so expect Antics and Plot Twists and also everyone to be either related or know each other * the fight scenes are great for today's standards, which uses more vfx than practical effects, and there is enough of them. Truly this is a fightey drama, but there is so much plot the fights seem to be far apart * there are many poisons, incredible techniques that destroy scenery but only make Our Hero step back a bit and all sort of acupoint pressing, so if you think that's too unrealistic well, I don't know, go find some other way to have fun * it's not really romantic, so if you're looking for that I'm sorry, BUT the super slow burn is very nice for those of us that enjoy dummasses in love * I guarantee you'll be screaming "he did WHAT?" and laughing all the time, because this story is a hoot * it is, however, based on a very old book, so trigger warning for mentions of rape, so much child abuse, fat shaming, homophobic comments and the Usual Sexism
3 episodes in and I'm pretty sure I've seen this plot in The Rise of Phoenixes. Now, I know chinese dramas/author recycle plots as shorthand and it doesn't exactly offends me, but I have seen that specific plot so many times it gets boring... Can anyone tell me an episode number for when the original story kicks in?
I watched the first 2 episodes and I don't really like Fan Xian. He sweet enough but kinda overpowered and I get easily bored with OP characters in isekai stories. Does he eventually gets any actual challenge or is everything a cakewalk filled with people telling him how good he is?
I love the heroine, but I'm on episode 14 and bored to tears. It's just that there are too many scenes where characters say they'll do something and why -> do thing -> tell someone else the did thing and re-explain why. It's too much explaining and too little action. Also, VERY little romance, I'm pretty sure Princess Agents is more romantic than this series and here the mains are married.
This show is 90% good. For about 40 episodes this was the best wuxia romance I've watched, light on soap opera romantics (if you're wondering just think about Eternal Love) and strong on fight scenes and crazy stunts. It goes well until the war starts, then it's downhill with everyone developing a completely new personality and endless damseling of Bu Qi.
