This is not the language of lovers. They just talk to each other that way. First speaks English to others as well. It's like his habit. First is like those kids who spend too much time on the Internet and then replace words or whole sentences with English. Note that Soong only speaks English to First and to Lee. He doesn't use it in conversations with others.
As for Lee, it's hard to say who he actually is. I don't think he grew up in the US. I think everything he says and all the rumors circulating about him are not true. To me, he looks like a man born into poverty who gained wealth through illegal business. He uses English to make others respect him more, to make them think he is someone important because he is from a foreign country. That's how I perceive him.

It's hard to say if this is the final goodbye. The actors said goodbye to the characters, but they don't know if there will be a season 2. They say we should ask the director.

But the point is that the English in this series was not supposed to be perfect. They didn't play someone who is a native speaker. They were playing someone who probably learned English on his own. They sound like me when I speak a foreign language. First probably picked it up on the Internet, probably on BDSM forums or in college. Soong used English to talk to First. This lack of perfection added extra flavor to their characters.

They gave it their all. The way they understood their characters is especially admirable. It's important to remember that this wasn't a simple school drama. Not only the NC scenes, but many other scenes were difficult. I'm sure many experienced actors would have turned down these roles because they are potentially career risky.
