Honestly, the actors' interactions and sharing of the show bts made me love the show more. And it might be me, but the leads had more chemistry off-screen than on-screen (though that bled into the show). Not saying that they didn't have any on the show; but like what Jeremy said, it was not "love at first sight", but æ¥ä¹ çæ (love that develops over time). I also love how many live streams, interviews and photoshoots they got to do to promote the show.
I like how much love the leads had for the show, chasing every episode, openly talking about particular not-so-well filmed scenes or poor post-production editing (i.e. missing blanket, ending scene), and having fun interacting with their fans.
The show had its faults and flaws (some scenes and developments were unnecessary), but I enjoyed it immensely. The leads did mention how much stuff they had to cut out and the crazy schedule they had (it was a crazy mad schedule), and well, we can also tell how little budget Tencent had for the show (it was filmed amidst COVID too).
Also, while it wasn't done perfectly, I love how the show wasn't dubbed.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it is because they are using their own voices, and they do onsite recording, so sometimes, the audio quality can be compromised. There might be random noises being captured or like they focus more on the mics capturing the leads' voices? One of the reasons why many Cdramas use dubbing I guess?
I can appreciate both but I like the ML's voice a lot, so I'm happy that they went with this route. :D
I binged the entire series, and I still enjoyed it immensely, even with some points that could have been better! The Chinese opera bits were fascinating, though I cannot judge how accurate they depicted the profession.
I admit that I started the show for the CHUANG peeps (Fu Jing, Wu Yuheng and Xie Xingyang), but the main couple was cute. Yao Chi rocked that hairstyle IMO.
But I have to say, Guan Jiu & Hao Shi stole the show (for me). I was apprehensive that the CP wouldn't work, but they fit their roles so well. :') (Also, how cute is it that they're only one year apart, far from their characters' age, lol!) I even saw #å èåŽå®æcpæ# treneding on Weibo, so I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I couldn't wait for the new episodes and ended up listening to the audiobooks (am only at Chapter 200). The misunderstandings in the drama are so tame compared to the craziness in the novel OMG.
