I got Jiang Cheng and I don't mind that because I don't agree with the comment about him at all. I thought exactly the same at first but once I rewatched the show and watched loads of videos on it, read the book and thought in depth about all the characters I actually think JC is the character who suffered the most and his reaction to most things is actually totally understandable.

yeah but it's not the first time we've seen in these dramas that if someone is super smart then they can complete it earlier because they have all the knowledge to do so. the whole reason courses are longer is to give you the knowledge to complete it at the end but he already had it so he doesn't need that extra time. I think it still makes sense and there isn't a plot hole

oh yeah good point. I get so confused with the 2. But post grad is usually 1 year only. at least in my country so if he started a year or 2 earlier than everyone else it still makes sense

wait PhD at 21? no that's normal. I'm in my 2nd year of undergrad and I'm 20. when I complete my degree at the end of the 3rd year I'd be 21. so if I were to do a PhD then when I first started I would be 21 and I would turn 22 shortly into the course. so actually it makes perfect sense for him to be 21 and doing a PhD

it's also possible that even though he says he's a certain age it depends when his birthday is. So when he applied and got into university he may have turned however old you need to be in the US or China minimum in order to get in. because I am born in October, so nearer the end of the year but in an academic class I am always one of the oldest. So this could be a reason too
