Damage is done. I was in a slump where I wasn't watching dramas regularly for a year, now in the past 4 days I finished 3 dramas and movie (IWGP, Long Love Letter, Strawberry on the shortcake, GO), the power (or curse?!) of love ;)

Firstly, Congratulation!
It's about time we get a serious write up on it. It's a very touchy subject and I thought about writing about it few times but there's no way I could talk about it sarcastically to suit my writing style. And I do have a lot to say.
See I'm Asian, not what you would call 'Asia' in a dramalogical sense bur geographically, from Bngladesh. As long as this culture of girls getting 'married of' would remain, you can expect to see misogyny in one form or another. If you are going to get into a relationship with a guy in this part of the world, expect to get abused in one form or another (that's very generalizing but I'll stay with the stats). Even in south Asia, an educated and earning girl gets a little more respect than her counterparts in drama 'Asia' (Again generalizing, forgive me, it's my observation). If you watch the dramas of this part it would boggle your mind with their 'middle earth' treatment of women. I just think they just fume the fuel of patriarchal whim that's getting shattered day by day with more and more women empowerment.
BUT I cannot forgive South Korea and I do hold them responsible. Where are their pride of 'Hallyue wave' when they humiliate half of their entire population for the whole world to see? It's this kind of nonsense they produce to make even girls from different part of world to support Kim Hyun Joong with bs excuses where I'm sure they wouldn't even think twice to strangle him if he was one of their own countrymen.
Also, there is another thing about their occupational role spectrum, how narrow it is! Though I can't put them on blast for this because even West didn't catch up.

When the review was written (circa 2015), MDL was not a hush hush place about plot lines. A page down in the comments section, you would learn every hook of the drama. Anyway, in the age of spoiler tag, it sure comes of as inappropriate. My apologies.

You're right, amnesia was probably not a cliche when HYD was made. But when I watched it, I already encountered several amnesia event in dramas/movies.....sooo....yeah, I got annoyed a lot.
