Guys I go everywhere and I see everyone praising the young actress in the first episode but am I the only who…
I think it is about expectations. Her acting is not very natural and a bit overdone. But for a child actor, it also shows her talent of being able to act and attract attention through eyes, and that got a larger portion of audiences who didn't expect to see that in a child to be in awe. If this happened to a mature actress, people will have different reaction.

I liked the you are my sunshine drama more. I also thought Yang Mi did well in the movie, but really thought the ML of the movie dragged her down. If the movie was between Yang Mi and Zhong, I probably will like it more. Haha

With all the failures of movies vs TV series, whoever take on movie should think twice. Even Yang Mi's you are my sunshines are not as good as the TV version. I even heard that contrast/competition led to the breakup of the close friendship between the two stars. Movie is just not a good platform to portrait the complicate relationship and long development of a character typically in such novel. I really liked Liu Yifei/Yang Yang, but their movie was just meh when contrasted with Yang Mi/Zhao. It is not that they are bad, it is the platform. Same with you are my sunshine or love o2o
Agree. The Chinese version was a lot of more flirtatious. It is more like "husband, the wind makes me chilly,…
In English, we rarely call our spouse husband or wife like what the Chinese usually do, so I understand the need to change. But by changing to simply calling the name, it lost the intimacy. Changing to Honey, then it also kinda doesn't reflect Haishi's character, so honestly I don't know what is better. In Chinese, it also didn't say inside or bedroom, it was simply go back to room if translated literally. But to reflect the level of intimacy, bedroom is probably better word to use here.
I read the comment..How Haishi called FJM as “Husband, the wind makes me chilly..Let’s go back inside.”…
Agree. The Chinese version was a lot of more flirtatious. It is more like "husband, the wind makes me chilly, let's go back to bedroom":) probably could have replaced husband with a similar more intimate word, for example, honey, to truly reflect the flirtatious level. Lol
Happy or Sad ending? I don't wanna read the comments cos I know there are a lot of spoilers lurking...
I say it is an unconventional happy ending. I ended up rewatching the ending so many times. Lol. I think people call it open or BE because the drama effectively ends with a traditional happy ending if you simply skip the last 2 episodes. Compared with that episode 46 ending, the official ending is bitter:) personally I like the official ending, but it does give audiences a choice to enjoy a traditional happy ending if they so chose.
Yeah, it definitely allows different interpretations. Still think it is more logical for her to be surprised by a pregnancy, as their relationship has been clear to her before. A natural reaction to them being together finally would be to say blessing, not being surprised:)
What are your most favourite scenes in this drama which you replayed and watched it many times?
There is a lot of them. But I might have an unpopular one. Despite everyone wanted a HE, I actually went to rewatch the final conversation between the two leads a few times. That was really good acting. I also rewatched many times of TMOPB BQ's solo goodbye scene to "dead" in bed YH scene many times. Maybe I just like emotional sad crying scenes:)
I had to drop this after 15 eps. 1, Emperor and Tilan relationship. Depressing. 2. Haishi admired by everyone…
Episode 15/16 was the worst 2 episodes in my view. They should have cut these two episodes a lot and put village visit and cliff survival scenes back.
I actually disagree with some other who say if you didn't like it up to episode 15, this is not for you. I think the drama picked a lot later. Honestly I only went past those earlier episodes because I liked Yang Mi and trusted her would bring show back up. (Even TMOPB, I almost dropped in the first 10 episodes) so I would suggest you continue and have some faith that you would love it later:)
Because this ending is logical and added a son of HS and FJM cleanly. So one of the regret of official ending is removed. They have their own kid and can be raised by them in public.
The mermaid hinted that HS was pregnant with FJM's kid when she was sent back to sea by HS. That kid can be born publicly as a younger prince as he was conceived before emperor died. Also as discussed earlier, the announcement in the end also says "emperor's eldest son promoted HS to Empress Dowager", so that also hinted there is a younger son.
Lol, I already saw a fan made alternate subtitle for the final conversation between the Prince and HS. If you don't understand Mandarin and only read the subtitle, you would be completely fooled into a happy ending. Haha. I can summarize the alternative conversion below. The boy asks HS, why his brother WeiRuo, doesn't stay in the palace, but stays in the house of teacher (FJM). HS responded that the teacher's health is not good, and never married and alone, so it was late emperor's wish to send the younger prince to the teacher to call him as father, to pay respect to him on behalf of royal family for his tribute to the country and royal family. The boy then say now he understands, and ask to visit and play with the younger brother. And ask HS to go with him to visit teacher. Then HS said similar thing like the real ending, and then finally agreed to go with the boy to visit. Haha, it fooled quite some people who thought this was an actual official alternative ending. Haha. I would have totally bought into this happier ending.
I am only introduced to Yang Mi this year by TMOPB, so that's my favorite show to go rewatching to handle post drama syndrome. And my favorite episode to start is end of 29 to 30.
My goodness, I just realized that I watched for the first time almost all her hits this year only. TMOPB, Palace, Fuyao, Chinese paladin 3, Translator and now NPE. Lol. I don't know why I didn't know her before. The only drama I couldn't finish is sword of legend, just couldn't attach my feeling to that. Not sure why.
Has anyone listen to this song (sang by Yang Mi) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v60TA0PXJ88 it's from the drama…
She was the singer for it in the drama when Palace was aired. So if anyone watched the drama, they certainly listened to it a lot. On the other hand. she was often criticized for not singing this song well, she sometime even made fun of herself on this one. Other better singers picked this popular songs later and expressed it better.
Would love a director's cut! Isn't there such a thing in china wherein we can watch the scenes with commentaries…
I think if you are using WeTV app, you can see the live commentary as VIP member already. But the live commentary are all in Chinese, and I found it is pretty annoying so I usually turn it off. I think the younger generation love it.
Did you watch the scene after the credit where he caught the feather? But I agreed I want more!!!!
Go watch episode 6, around 37:40. And then watch the end of 48. It is beautifully done to summarize FJM's development of love. In episode 6, he missed the feather and didn't catch it even that's around the first time he shows affection to HS. He caught it in the end, it shows that he won't miss it again.
When FJM managed to survive the coup, my hope shot up. But they had to throw a curveball with the baby Prince's…
I really hope that they shown a scene or talked about that the prince had a princess little sister. That would be a girl from Haishi and FJM and since she was conceived before Di Xu died as Lang Huan hinted when Haishi sent her back to sea, she can be legitimately raised as princess.
They can't have child together because in public she is emperor widow nd she can't marry other man if she did…
They could have already have a child. As that child was conceived before Di Xu died, he/she could be born as prince/princess cleanly/morally/legally. Given Lang Huan was surprised when she touched HS's hand, I highly suspected that they cut some relevant scenes during the final production due to censorship. Chinese culture doesn't value that. Lol

1. Earlier on, how HS starts the affections towards FJM.
2. A lot of scenes on Su Ming and his hatred towards FJM.
3. lot of Scenes related to Ju qiqi
4. A lot of scenes of FJM, how he is thinking about HS etc.
5. Substantial cut from their visit to HS's mom's village.
6. How they survived in a lake under the cliffs and how HS buried her mom.
7. Development of ZhuoYing, how Tara died and something around a guy who like Tara and jealousy that led to Tara's death.
8. Almost all details about how they form and cancel baixi were cut due to censorship forbidding those type of thing.
There are a lot of other lesser scenes cut, which is why we all feel disconnect in the flow of the drama:)
