2. Camera angles exquisite
3. Styling and make up is on point, really accentuating both leads’ beauty
4. the story is refreshing, easy to follow, and well-paced.
5. although there are not many in the beginning of the story, the fighting scenes of Changyu is so cool!!!
Overall, very satisfying to watch and up to my expectations!

About Danyin’s fate, Xiahou Dan died first, and a few decades later Wanyin died due to old age. I also found on X that there ought to be additional scenes where Danyin’s son (the future emperor) is looking at the sky while telling the story of Danyin to their granddaughter. So they left a peaceful legacy to their future generations.

I read somewhere that according to the novel, the crown prince tried to assasinate Danyin once again (in the novel he was helped by Huahua, but in the drama Huahua died early), then he was captured and stripped of all titles, sent to live normally with better guardian.

I can’t stop asserting how beautiful and mesmerizing the shots, color palette and the lighting of this drama. It’s visually pleasing and aesthetically appealing.

This drama also has similar vibes with Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, which starts with a rather comedic vibe tinted with ominous predictions, and gradually got darker and more serious. I even rather miss the cute animations at the start! But I really love how the plot thickens with political strives and how the leads are trying to make real change in the world they live in.

I had a feeling Wang would die :( he’s one of my favorite, please don’t let him die 😭 But I think there would be more deaths in the future!

from my understanding SFL is actually a 2D character, her character background is someone from the real world who transmigrates into a novel she reads (a different title from what Wanyin’s reading before she transmigrates. So the REAL 2D people are only Xiahou Dan and Wanyin who seemed to transmigrate from the same reality.

Yes! This has been my concern too since the last episode, does their timeline in the novel align with the reality? Because it seemed like Dan and Wanyin didn’t transmigrate into the novel at the same time. So Dan probably grew older in the novel without knowing how to get out, so they are probably the same age. It also proposed a theory in my head, what if Dan was actually a 2D character? Just like Xie Yong er whose character setting is someone who transmigrate to the novel, Dan is actually just like Yong er, but it wasn’t revealed until the very end, at the prologue. So Wanyin had been falling in love with a 2D character. The ending would probably make Wanyin choose to stay in the novel as Dan’s companion, or return to real life and be apart from Dan forever? Because apparently Dan isn’t her CEO in real life, just a schoolboy who transmigrated to the novel years ago.

The plot is advancing rather quickly, a bit too fast imho, and Xiahou Dan is already falling for Yu Wanyin by episode 2, and I don’t think they’ve established their relationship yet too finally bloom into love, so it made me doubt his feelings as pure love. Rather, I think what he felt for Wanyin at the beginning is more like fellow victims of fate, but he confuses it as love.

Though the plot doesn’t quite click it for me (I’m not a novel reader), I admire the exquisite settings and mesmerizing camera angles. The set is grand and the costume is whimsical, Wanyin’s make up truly fits her as Demonic Consort too, for she feels unreal.

Overall, I think I overestimate this drama a bit because the storytelling is quite messy, but I totally love every other aspect! Very satisfying to watch

I love Hu Xiu’s chemistry with Pei Zhen, and I’ve always loved the idea of a villain second lead who is evil and cunning ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I really love Reba and Xingxu’s chemistry and the plot was interesting, but I had a really hard time watching this and not feel bored. I keep falling asleep mid-watching it. I don’t know if it’s the vibes or too much talking or the plot going painfully slow. Some scenes were really interesting, like the first fight between Yan Tui and Jiu Luo, or the first real showdown between Jiu Luo and two humanoid earth fiends that are on the way to Xicang, but the rest of the scenes were painfully dull, it’s extremely difficult for me to go on 😭

I totally love the chemistry between the leads but the story and some stunts were just so lame. I wished they had taken a more serious tone with all this. I feel like cdramas have finally taken a step more into the world of dramas, as the camera angles, the color grading, some set details, are mesmerizing. But the plot execution doesn’t able to grab viewers’ attention for long. Truly a great drama tho, but maybe not my cup of tea (especially after I had just finished 5th season of Stranger Things so my expectations were extremely high and honestly doesn’t go apple to apple with this drama). I hope one day when my palate has been cleansed, I can properly enjoy this drama to its end.

Things I love is how beautiful every shot is, and showcasing Dilraba’s beauty up close is just chef’s kiss! I love her clothes, it feels like it can start a trend called Nie Jiu Luo-core. And I love how uncanny Lin Xi Rou is. I can feel that she’s inhuman, like there’s this eerie and uncanny feeling about her. Xiong Hei honestly just feel like a regular thug whose brow bleaching gone wrong.

I’ve watched this up to episode 6 and am loving it so far but it certainly has things it can improve:

1. CGI, looks cheap as hell I wish they put more budget on it
2. Nanshan hunters’ clothes. With traditional chinese element all over I wished they had integrated more chinese element into their uniform, like their neckline or buttons thing. I don’t really like the cheap miner bomber look they’re going for.
3. Despite all the flashbacks I don’t develop any kind of sympathy towards the hunters. They feel one dimensional and lacking any life. They feel like NPV Army in a war strategy game you don’t really care for.

Just watched up to episode 3 and I must say the details of this drama is mesmerizing! Everything is visually and aesthetically pleasing. The color grading is captivating. The plot is unique and the leads are my favorites (Reba & Chen Xingxu). Overall, I’m enjoying this so much.

Just finished 2 episodes and tbh I didn’t expect that I would really like it! The plot is refreshing with some unique twists that separate it from Sageuk predecessors but also feels nostalgic and reminds us of the beauty of old Sageuks. I can’t really explain it but maybe the vibes or how the story is told gives me really nostalgic feelings and it’s been awhile since the last time I enjoy a good Sageuk.

I’m really enjoying it so far but I don’t think it needs the body swap plot as it’s already complex as it is with the whole destiny, reborn, evil minister, and everything. I think the body swap plot would mess it up? Or will it be pivotal for their success in overthrowing the evil minister?
