rightttt, I didn't expect this drama to be THAT good. The writing, timing, scenery, mood and camerawork, everything is so perfect!

At first, when the news came out and people started complaining, I genuinely thought this drama was going to be a generic overlap of queerbaiting and romance without any particularly heavy themes. By that, I mean I expected it to be an ordinary youth drama like Twinkling Watermelon or Spring of Youth, which both honestly disappointed me, so I went into this thinking, “what could I expect from a youth drama?” That was exactly what I was going to say about this one too.

I thought I was going to get incredibly annoyed watching the main three, but this drama has genuinely exceeded every expectation I had, which almost never happens to me with dramas. The different tones are explored and portrayed so well, and everyone's acting has been phenomenal. The cast is actually crazy good.

I'm especially happy to see Song Kang back from the military because I missed seeing him in romance dramas, but this has shown me a completely different side of him. He was great in Sweet Home, but this role fits his acting and his charms SO well. The yearning, the guilt, the restraint… he is really selling every emotion Pi O is going through.

I'm also incredibly fascinated by how much this drama mirrors the myth of Salieri and Mozart. The writing falls so well into that mirroring, and it's honestly so satisfying to watch everything unfold when you realize how carefully everything was written. It feels like so much of it was carefully written rather than thrown in just because it sounded interesting.

Wow. Every character is so complex and carefully written that I'm honestly in awe. One character I'm having the most trouble understanding, though, is the music teacher. He clearly doesn't know how to use his words and can't seem to be straightforward with either Pi O or his mom, so I can understand why he comes across as irritating to both of them. At the same time, there's clearly more going on with him, and I really want to explore his character more.

I'm loving this drama so far. And if it were actually a BL, which I personally consider it to be, this would probably be one of my top BLs of the year alongside Deep in and Payback. Because imagine Jeong Yo was a girl. Those feelings and that level of yearning would not just slide by as bromance. If Jeong Yo were a girl, this would honestly feel so much like those Chinese romance dramas where the ML is just painfully yearning over the FL for the entire drama. Like PLEASE, what am I supposed to call that besides romance??

Also, I’m kinda scared about the whole father situation 😭 neither of their fathers being revealed yet feels a little TOO suspicious. Someone said they might be half-siblings and honestly… that would be one way to end the BL "allegations"

The writing feels so professional, and the crew clearly knows how to get every emotion to land. Even without explicitly labeling the relationship between the male leads as romantic, the way they look at, search for, worry about, and emotionally depend on each other makes the interpretation almost impossible to ignore. I actually like that the drama leaves room for people to interpret their relationship differently, because either way, the emotional weight is THERE.

As for the main three, I feel really bad for Jae In because she genuinely cannot catch a break. She can't seem to pick herself up, she's not getting the affection she's craving, and people mostly just see her as annoying. But when she's on screen, all I can think is GIRL, PLEASE let me find you a better and more suitable partner because Pi O's eyes are CLEARLY on somebody elseeee.

And honestly, I think that's what makes her character more interesting to me. She's not necessarily wrong for wanting Pi O, especially considering how long she's been beside him, but you can feel that she's chasing something he's simply not giving back in the same way. I don't want her to just exist as the girl caught between the two male leads. I want her to actually find something for herself.

Hopefully this drama continues with the same excellence because I'm genuinely looking forward to every new episode. I might even rewatch this, which is something I almost NEVER say while I'm still watching a drama. I really didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I am. I think I just love it. Everything feels intentional. The writing, the cinematography, the camera work, the characters, the acting… everything is hitting for me.
