Criminally underrated. I still can't believe how this show is running under people's radars! I don't normally pay too much attention to acting -- but here I've paused episodes many times to replay certain scenes just to observe the emotions flitting across the actors' faces. I can tell this show is going to leave an unfillable void in me once it finishes :,)

Just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware, "The End of a Relationship" (SFH prequel) was just added to Webtoon!! I thought I was dreaming when I initially saw the banner lmao.

And fr, I can't believe there's no official translation for the sequel... I ended up reading a MTL yet even that translation stopped like 2/3 through TT!

Having read some of the manga, yes, I believe so! This case occurs following some of the ones featured in s1. Though the live action series re-ordered some of the cases (and added some original ones? im unsure), so the show's chronology is a bit different.

Please do not bring personal experience into this. When you are younger, especially a minor, your brain (frontal lobe) is less developed and you are less capable of making rational decisions. Please do research this if you are unaware of this fact. My issue isn't with an adult age gap, say between a 23 and 35 year old. That's a different story. My issue is this is a relationship between a 19 (a MINOR in Korea) and an almost 50 year old.

Were the gangster in his original body, and not good-looking, many people would likely not ship the two as they are now both not eye-candy.

Now, to get to your question: I think you've managed to completely miss my point, maybe because outside of your BL shows you're unaware of what the lbgtq+ community goes through. Homophobic people often choose to equate pedophilia and lgbtq+, and use this rhetoric to forward their ideas.

I'll try to say this as explicitly as possible: one of your first mainstream non-web drama BL shows would be showcasing such a relationship, presenting it as normal. It's not about fiction affecting people's ACTIONS, it's about fiction affecting people's VIEWS. In media, straight couples with minor/adult relationships can get away with this because nobody's against straight couples: that's the norm. However, with gay couples, putting this sort of relationship on screen has the very real risk of allowing this show to be weaponized by homophobes, as an example of why gay people should not exist. Especially if people such as yourself fawn over it on social media.

I will say, if this were a show with a normal age gap, even a large one between 2 full-grown adults, I'd be completely in on the outrage with you guys.

Fiction can affect reality, and people need to genuinely remember that gay people exist outside of media, and are very much affected by their portrayal in media. Would you really want one of the few non-web series bl to be showcasing a very harmful portrayal of a gay relationship? Personally I wouldn't.

I’ve never really commented on MDL before (social anxiety) but some of the comments below were sincerely bothering me. To be honest, the choice to remove the show’s lgbtq+ content poses an interesting ethical dilemma. Is it better to air a show including potentially harmful representation, or remove this representation altogether?

Personally, as a person on the lgbtq+ spectrum, I think it’s the latter. Featuring a gay relationship between an almost 50 year old and a 19 year old is plain disturbing, especially if the source material frames this in a non-negative light. “Isekai” romance as a whole always bothers me when the love interest is a minor: it doesn’t matter if the body “possessed” by the adult is also a minor- at the end of the day, they are still years, decades more mature than their love interests- love interests who are usually UNAWARE of this fact.

In case anyone wants to play the “it’s just fiction” or “straight media like this exists,” cards: yes, it’s also bad that straight media features similar age gaps HOWEVER this sort of rep can cause serious damage to an oppressed community, who is already subject to all sorts of stereotypes. Now I don’t doubt the real reason for the relationship’s removal was censorship, but seeing so many people below say they should have kept it in really irks me.

I don’t think there’s really a solution to this dilemma besides simply not producing the show. There’s no point aging the gangster character down because his character needs to be an adult or the plot of the show doesn’t function. Sorry for the long comment, but even if one person reads this and rethinks their opinion on the subject, I'll be happy.
