I've read a lot of comments about the ending being disappointing, and I find that a pity, because I was wanting to watch this show after the buzz it got at the start.
If we start from the position that I want to see a happy ending, and I want to feel as satisfied as possible about our main couple being together... Is there any agreement about the best place to stop watching?
I.e. What point does the story feel the most happy and complete? I'm thinking of just watching the story to that point and ignoring the rest.
I'm on episode 53, and while our couple are lovely together, and while I agree Si Feng has suffered an awful lot for her, I have to admit that if I was Xuan Ji I'd have broken up with him.
Yes, he obviously is willing to lay down his life to protect her. But could you imagine living with him long-term? After all they've been through, he's still keeping secrets from her "for her own good."
Just be an adult and have a damn conversation with the person you love, for goodness sake!
Edit: I've watched a few more, and, ok. Si Feng is redeeming himself once more with badass levels of courage. So I'm back to being team Si Feng once more. I still think he shouldn't have kept stuff from her, though. Ultimately, there are just so many people trying to filter what she knows in order to control her behaviour.
The Story of Ming Lan has a really satisfying conclusion.
