there's a bit cultural reference here.. thai ppl call all types of oranges as "Som" which simply translates to "orange" (i am not thai, but from a neighbouring country, and in our language too- we have our own word for mandarins, which also simply translate to orange)
one more thing, the word "orange" is always an umbrella term, with mandarins, tangerines, maltas etc falling under it
