Yes, it's true that initially it was rumoured to be Wallace, but that's only because of their chemistry in TSATB. This happens very regularly, I think mainly because of CP fan, they tried to push for the leads to be together again. For example, after UTP, Songyun and Jialun were constantly rumoured in many dramas... Basically, safe to say to not eat too many melons :)

I entirely agreed! When I watched that part, I wasn't even mad, I was hurt because I knew this was going to happen eventually, and I believe it's both of their faults that contributed to it. As much as I want to avoid saying this, but this storyline, either it's business or their love life, really reflects some issues many people are facing.
Everyone has their opinions, but for me, I've seen many useless and unreasonable break-up in drama, this is not one of them.
Finally got a chance to complete this drama (well almost done). This is my input regarding the break-up scene (may contain spoilers) and a little long. Just a fun dicussion :)
First, I want to discuss Han Ting & Ji Xing. As an audience, we get to witness their personality individually.
Han Ting is merciless when it comes to business, whatever it's beneficial to him, he will find a way to gain it, it makes sense since he has been doing this job for a long time. He knows who's good and bad. He solved issues with logic, not emotions. As for Ji Xing, she had been taken advantaged of for years in the company, when she finally decided to stand up for herself and start her own business, nobody was supportive of her decision, even her fiancé. She looked at things from an emotional POV, she thinks everyone deserves a second a chance, despite their mistakes or how bad of a person they are. You can see these behaviours from the failed test subject situation, and the betrayed co-worker.
Now, let's look at their relationships with others. 1. Han Ting has many admirers around him, but he never considered them, but he knows their intention, hence why he kept Zeng Di close to him for so long, she's still somehow beneficial to him (it's not that he doesn't know what she's doing, he just turned a blind eye temporary). In his family, the only people who actually cared about him were his great aunt, his uncle, and his grandfather.
2. Ji Xing, she has loving friends, family and an amazing boyfriend/fiancé. I just want to mention, Yichen and Ji Xing didn't break up because they fell out of love. They just had different vision for the future, but Ji Xing didn't want to break up with him. She even went to his house searching, thinking he had someone else. LATER ON, to find out he started dating her best friend, Ji Xing even mentioned “I don't mind, you guys are dating but don't have to do it behind my back.” This implies how hurt she was. Moreover, we don't know if Ji Xing ever ends up knowing that Yichen and Qiuzi started having feeling for each other, but regardless, the betrayal was there.
Ji Xing and Han Ting: A lot of us witnessed Han Ting's journey of love, how he chased after Ji Xing and all, but Ji Xing doesn't know that. She doesn't know Han Ting loved her for a long time. All she knows is, Han Ting, her investor, suddenly developed feelings for her, and eventually the two started dating. A relationship that has unbalance power, regardless it's financial or status, it will be fragile. Especially, when he knows everything about her, but Ji Xing knows nothing about him, makes her very insecure.
Many people said that Ji Xing was unreasonable during the break-up, but in my opinion, this break up is both of their fault, not just Ji Xing. She did something stupid, she decided to betray him because she thought he was going to betray her first. This is because of their poor communication, which Han Ting hinted at the beginning of the relationship. Yi Xiao also mentioned many times to Han Ting that he needs to tell her about his plan, don't let her hear it from someone else. Even an outsider, like Yi Xiao, knows this can serve as a betrayal to her. Plus, when she asked him, does he love her? He said it's because we're compatible, so her brain just like because my company is a match to you?
Many people said it's stupid to let Zeng Di's words get to her. Please remember, Zeng Di has been with Han Ting for a long time, and with JX's insecurity in this relationship, it's hard not to let ANYONE's words get to you.
I, personally, think, this break up scene served as a good purpose for both of them. It helps Han Ting grow as a person, started considering other's feeling and not just the benefits they have. As for her, she took off to learn about business, which helped her understand Han Ting's intentions, hence why she was not even mad at him. She told him, she understood his intention and why he did what he did, but she was hurt that he hid it from her, which I think it's very valid. Plus, what's best for her, may not be what she wants. I absolutely loved when Ji Xing suggested them to get back together, but this down, put down their status and just be 2 normal people dating.
