i see quite a lot of comments here about how slow the development in this show is. i have to say, that's what i like about it. i think that's exactly the time we need here to understand some things and how tricky the case actually is.
For me, the police officers are the highlights of this show because they seem a bit more โrealโ than usual in the series. JSJ's role is almost brilliant in my opinion, how he can foresee some things and how he gets information - efficiently. his charm is superb too. for me the chemistry here was good in every direction.
yes, the reporter definitely has a strange role here ... i was hoping all along that she would be more involved in the "team", but nope. her decisions just felt wrong.
overall for me personally close to a masterpiece - with all the lows and highs. not perfect, but imperfectly charming and โrealโ
i wouldn't compare it to Stranger either (although that's exactly how i came up with it because someone recommended it) and i watched Stranger right before this one. i'd rather compare it to Misaeng (please don't lynch me for that :-D)
Have you watched The Good Detective? He's one of the main lead and I hope he gets to play another role like that.
it may not be a masterpiece, but it's very close :-D season 1 was quite good. a lot of the developments aren't as predictable as they usually are in detective shows like this. the chemistry is pretty good because the roles feel โrealโ. and JSJ's role is special - almost brilliant actually, the way he investigates and can foresee things. but that's not emphasized as much. and that makes it even more โrealโ. i would highly recommend it, am currently on season 2 and looking around to see what else JSJ has done. he's absolutely underrated.
Genuinely, how much of that typical cringe humor does this have?Thing is I really like the cast, I'm already familiar…
I agree. I held out until episode 12 and really skipped a lot ... i really enjoy Jung Hae In's acting skills, but for me he wasn't really convincing here ... maybe it was because of the dialogues? they were kind of empty.
even the 2nd leads were kind of super cringy for me. it was dripping with sugar syrup at times. you can do that, but in some scenes it was just too much.
what i like most about k-dramas is the warmth that even thriller themes can pull off. i totally missed that here. the actors are all great, don't get me wrong, but there was a spark missing
another thing I noticed: the faces and the whole setting in general was way too โcleanโ and fake. of course this is often the case, but I just expected more from Jung Hae In's drama ... I've already watched One Spring Night and Something in the Rain several times - they can't be topped.
i thought the beginning with the murder story was really creepy, especially how they portrayed it... after that it eased up and they focused on the story. i already suspected the murderer in the earlier episodes. i thought the focus on young Mi Jin's story was pretty good and also situations with old Mi Jin. the actress is sooooo good! but then, halfway through, the story changed. maybe from the confession by Ko Won. after that, the relationship between the two was weird and kind of unresolved, i think. even though there was a scene about it later, it wasn't really well resolved for me.
i found the MFL very helpful and committed in the beginning. but later she became quite selfish. especially where the ML's mum was found. and anyway, where was the chemistry? completely gone. even when they kissed. i think something got lost in the later episodes.
the romance between Mi Jin's friend and ML's friend was a bit forced. it didn't look at all believable to me ...
This time, for once, I didn't look in here beforehand ... big mistake. ๐ซ
i finished watching the 2nd episode late last night ... well, i should have done it in broad daylight. i was a bit disturbed by the gory scenes. i didn't expect it at all. i was fooled by the fluffy pictures.
but overall the chemistry between the protagonists is pretty good and i'm really impressed with Lee Jung Eun's acting. she brought such a freshness to the story and so did Jung Eun Ji. this is my first k-drama with her. great casting, i just have to survive the gory scenes somehow ... ๐ฅน
Iยดm on episode 7 and kind of like it .... it is silly, it is cute and light. and I like the behaviour from ML, he is consequent with his respect towards her.
BUT
every time the MCs spend "quality time" together, the "Lord of the rings"-kind of melody throws me out of the story ... ๐
I watched the series in 1.5 days ๐ฌ I only rewound during the super heavy emotional parts. I couldn't take that so well as a mother.
but otherwise the story was good, the actors were great and the ending was finally not too rushed or cheesy like in most shows. it was warming to the heart.
with Eun Woo's acting ... unfortunately in the first episodes i couldn't see his character but him as an actor - later it totally changed, like I could see his process to be better and better in each episode. he was really good in my eyes. in some scenes I literally heard โcutโ at the end ๐ he also overacted some scenes, especially the fight scenes. he still has a lot to learn there. on the emotional part: the depth, the complexity and the warmth/coldness in his facial expressions were great. much better than in his other works. I hope he continues to act and take on such challenging roles!
it was my first series with Kim Nam Joo and she is phenomenal. such a good actress, incredible - nothing more to say. I will have a look at her other works. the other actors were also really good - I was totally into the story and didn't even realize that the 1 hour was up in each episode.
overall I would really recommend it, BUT best not to watch it when you're having a difficult time. it might help, but more in retrospect, not in the middle of it.
Hey do you still remember, from which episode are they in the current time? Or how many episodes does "four years…
oh, I can relate :) in this case it is necessary to have so many episodes because the whole story is based on what happens in school. Every character had their development based on that. I hope you can watch it one day :) it is worth it
i just finished watching the series and i am impressed. i checked out the comments here beforehand and i can understand why some people quit at the first few episodes because of the student-teacher relationship. it was not a relationship in a romantic way. but that was important to the story. i found the story intelligent and heartwarming in many ways ... Family, expectations of our loved ones and of ourselves - this was all the basis and lesson in the series. and all wrapped up in maths.
I found the life lessons combined with maths encouraging and they often made me reflect. the acting was top-notch, except for the FL ... she was like a stone to me (haha, it was not intentional), absolutely emotionless, empty and somehow her appearance didn't fit into the whole story. the other actors, especially Lee Do Hyun, made up for her weaknesses though. i often had to pull myself together to continue watching the series because i was annoyed by the choice of the FL.
it was a true drama at its best - highs and lows, remorse and arrogance - it had it all
I often read comments about how bad Si Wan's acting is โฆ. especially in Misaeng. for me, this drama is just perfect. I didn't skip a second and enjoyed every second. the chemistry, the subtle humor and the characters were so warm and so real. I was mesmerized even though it's an office drama!!!! and that was matched by the warmth in Si Wan's acting. his style is just unique โ subtle, vulnerable, BUT he can really play anything and his character can form a strong pillar in every drama. although I understand why some don't like him or his style, I enjoy watching him immensely. and he always makes the other actors shine - that's rare ....

I'm thinking about watching the last episodes ...

unfortunately only a 7/10
