all i’m hoping for is that this is good fun. jane the virgin (2014 ver) took a lot of telenovela tropes and used them for comedy, so if this drama can do that with makjang tropes, it’ll be funny 😂

I've got no idea ): the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that some cdramas have aired after 4+ of being on hold. It's just a matter of hoping that we will eventually see it one day.
Me too.Actually I think Li Cheng Yin being so sly, cunning, calculative, ruthless is kind of the most realistic…
Yeah, I think you summed it up really well. One of the things that sets this drama apart from other palace dramas that feature romance too is how it frames Li Cheng Yin's grayness as a character. And if you know anything about history, royals aren't the sweet princes we see in the majority of historical dramas, although that is nice to watch too.
The lack of screen time with the two of them was barely noticeable since every scene they were in together they were fully immersed in their characters. I really came to respect both Peng Xiao Ran and Chen Xing Xu while watching. Cause what does angst really do if the actors don't have chemistry to start with, you know? But they did.
Also yes, Li Cheng Yin in real life would be somebody to avoid. While toxic characters like his make for an interesting watch, since their actions are so unpredictable and erratic, in real life, somebody like him should be locked up! The sad ending really does work here too I think, I mean, imagine if this guy got a happy ending after all the stuff he did. It wouldn't feel satisfying.
And I'd love to see more dramas from both the leads. I hope those dramas turn out good and deliver memorable dramas as well!
you're the one camping out in the comments and letting them all get to you so ...
you have the comprehension skills of a toddler. of course i knew your trashy joke was sarcastic. i was saying YOU are the one who is camping out in these comments yet you're trying to make fun of and belittle those who are commenting about the racism in this drama, specifically actual africans! all while you keep victimizing yourself and trolling all over the place. i was not taking your words literally, i could tell that your comments were meant to be from the point of view of those against you. maybe reread my comment before you come at me with more of your middle-schooler comebacks. grow up
