I'm someone who's very active on chinese social media platforms like weibo, douyin and xiaohongsu. I'm not a fan of Guan Xiao Tong nor Xu Rouhan but I've watched their dramas/movies. Based from Chinese platforms, I would say Guan Xiaotong is more popular in China than Xu Rouhan. In China, she's considered as a National Daughter. On the other hand, Xu Rouhan is more popular internationally than Guan Xiaotong. So it's kinda true that they've used Guan Xiaotong's popularity to promote the drama. For Cdramas, Chinese market is more important than international market,
