So well said! This is the first time I've seen somebody asses Suji in an honest way. Either people are too smitten with her beauty, which rightfully so because she is absolutely gorgeous (prob. top 3!) and then they are praising her like she's the second coming of Chirst or are annoyed by it and hating on her, which is also stupid. But I 1000% agree with what you said. She is fun and beautiful to watch but let be honest, she is quite bellow average in terms of pure acting skill. She is at her best when relying on her co-stars and just playing herself.

You are definitely free to make any rating that you like, I'm just pointing out the inconsistency in your judgement. Not even as a gotcha but more like, sometimes we might be blind to our own biases. I'll go out on a limb here just to drive my point across: Goebbel's propaganda was made well. They spent an enormous amounts of money on those productions. Would you gave it a few points for the technical effort? Ofc no, in terms of message it's the most disgusting and vile thing that ever saw the light of day. Now I'm not directly comparing the two but from the things you pointed out in your review, your views totally align with mine. Basically trying to pass this stalking, arrogant and manipulative asshole who gets everything his way mostly by dumb luck as a staple of virtue and a role model. That goes against every sane principle in most of human civilizations. Yeah Han Ji Pyeong and grandma were awesome but so was the idea of unification under Goebbel. That doesn't excuse the means. And even mathematically if you give first half all 10/10 (which is not, maybe the first two) and the second half 1/10 or 2/10 like you said, that' still in the range of 5.5/10. For comparison you gave doom at your service 6/10 due to the pure boredom. So according to your own standards you are less forgiving towards the boredom than towards these insane repulsive morals in Start-Up? If that's the case it's totally your prerogative to put more weight on being entrained than "supporting" the morals of the product and your rating is totally justified and I was wrong to call it a pitty-rating. However the end result is still the same. Even tho Nam Joo Hyuk got a backlash the series is arguably considered a success. Hence part of the problem.

Pretty on point review. However I can't wrap my head around your inconsistent rating. This drama is definitely not a 7. In-fact it's one of the the biggest trash that ever came out of Korea. And in that respect I'm sorry to say you are part of the problem. I mean not that score on MDL makes a difference but if we continue to pitty-rate these shows they are keep going to make them and (the biggest problem) these revolting morals they preach will keep being promoted. And god knows how many stupid and spineless people mistake popularity for quality and even truth. And the circle continues.

Haha the title is pretty on point. Agree with everything you said. The predicament they created was soooo compelling. I didn't know who I should side with. Altho the motivation of him being a spy for the commies for so long with merely a vague promise was a bit questionable. And the twists and turns were a times too sudden/too clever for their own good. Came across as if they wanted to outsmart the audience, which is never a good thing. And the biggest letdown was the ending. I don't mind a non Hollywood ending but they totally didn't it build it up properly. Sure the plot mechanics with all the hints were there but character-wise was soo weak. If you're gonna go for unsuspecting "feel-sorry" backstab at least make us feel for the character. Make her likeable. Otherwise it's just a backstabbing bitch. Anyway pretty solid movie. Especially if you are into this sort of thing.

I just realized that every second time I comment on a review turns out it's your review, which means we have a pretty similar taste :) That being said I initially dropped this show after 3 eps because I just couldn't stand how annoying the prince was in the beginning and with all the bullying and whatnot. Well after seeing your review I said to my self since we have pretty similar taste I decided to pick it back up. And admittedly the prince got a lot better. Even charming at times. The story itself is also pretty interesting. But now another thing has popped up for me. Which I just can't get over. Fuyao apparently learns this invincible skill (which was like - hell yeah for me! finally a badass FL) and then she acts like a complete retard. LIKE HOW MANY TIMES SHE NEEDS TO BE SAVED BY THE PRINCE and other men. Like seriously. Every second episode she get captured or knocked out. But in a most ridiculous way possible only to be saved by a GUY. 5 times in the last 10 eps. Like c'mon. Didn't it bother you?

So glad someone said it out loud! One of the most horrendous FL (top 3 for sure) in c-dramas ever. And she’s supposed to be a member of the feather tribe where every woman is unearthly beautiful. LOOOOOL! Whoever casted her needs to get his or her eyes (and brain) checked (along with people on here yapping about her) . Borderline repulsive. Don’t even get me started on acting. From the first time she comes on screen I started skipping every scene she’s in. To the point where the whole series started to annoy me because of her. I’m getting increasingly annoyed with c-dramas. And their incompetence when it come to FL and romance.

Why? Because you have a "crush" on one of these people (I assume Lee Jae Wook?) and now you're butt-hurt because an "unimportant" me added him on some obscure list with 6 people? And the biggest irony is that YOU go around and HATE on other people's lists lol .You need to rethink your life choices.

Heck I also have quite a few shows that are embarrassingly cheesy and are by all measures really bad and I love them. But I don't go around saying they are the biggest masterpieces right after say Kubrick's 2001. What I hate the most is this spineless mob mentality and the mental gymnastics they go through to justify their challenged mental capacity. So I'm 100% with you on this. But I'm trying really hard to not let it affect my love for Kdramas 😅 Yes the ML from AOS. And no I haven't watched S2. 10ft pole is not enough for me to touch it 😂

OMG SOOO well said. I never in my life found ML so revolting (except for that creep in Start-Up). It didn't help that the actor had such a repulsive face and less than zero acting skills. Whole series is an absolute garbage. Ok correction ep01 is pretty awesome. Then goes down the toilet faster than a diarrhea after a late night at taco-bell. And people are raving about it like it's the second coming of Christ. MDL has truly become a cesspool of brainwashed retards.

She basically a model plucked from a runway because of her good looks. So now whenever she "acts" (if you can call it that) all she can think of is how she looks on camera. Absolutely no chemistry between ML and her. And yeeeees. 2nd FL was just stealing the show. They had sooo much chemistry. Also why in every one of those instances the FML is so atrocious (either bad actress, bad character or most of the time both with absolutely no chemistry) and the SFML always outshines her. OMG soooo on point what you said. The dumbest love triangle and the most contrived, forced reversal ever. A love reversal is really rare in TV series and when it happens they just had to pick this piece of garbage to do it! SMH! The SML is such a Mary Sue in this series. I can see how on paper he might be a good character but comes of sooo self-righteous and soulless. Could be due to the actor.

I agree with everything you said except the love triangle. One of the stupidest love triangles I've ever seen in C-dramas. Straight after the Dance of the Sky Empire. I love a good SML and a reversals (which sadly has been done properly only once or twice) but here the SML was sooo weak here. Stoic? More like soulless. No presence, given unlimited power. A real male Marry Sue. And the gymnastics they went trough to force them to spend time together was just vomit inducing. The ML was just outshining him at every step however they also ruined him with stupid contrived plot and this bumbling idiot soon outstayed the welcome.

Omg so well said. And I’m so happy that I’m not alone in this. I was sooo annoyed with her from the first time she appeared on the screen and had this bad feeling in my stomach. But admitedly the little romance they had in the mysterious land was quite cute. But then 2/3 of the way things just went downhill faster than burning plane. She started doing such despicable things and displaying the most disgusting human traits that a woman can have. So much so that with every passing episode I wanted her to die the most gruesome death. Somewhere along the way I even startig hating Li Xuan for being such a pathetic looser. Really turning from a cool guy into a freaking stalker. And they had a perfect opportunity to turn things around for him with the second prince (princess). But nooooo. Horrible horrible writting. What’s wrong with these writters but most of all people that eat this crap like free bread. I even bought iQIYI VIP to watch this crap and so angry with myself. Would be better to flush that money down the toilet.
