The SA didn't deepen their relationship but her (Flint's) excuses started it. They had a very toxic relationship that wasn't addressed 'some what' until near the end of the book. As for the debate on whether the writers should have or have not included the scene. IDK, because it does play an integral part of the plot. Would have just the implication of it happening off camera versus what was shown been better? Should they have shown another form of abuse? Because it's the abuse that starts the toxic relationship. Flint (Skylar) is very controlling and dominating towards Sun through the entire book. She loves her very much but it isn't until....I would spoil it if I go further. I have to add though, that what was shown in the series, was a very tame version of what actually happened in the novel. I was very shocked when they announced they would be making THIS novel into a GL because of the relationship and the themes in the book. For it to be a typical GL, they would have had to completely re-write the plot and just use the outline and character names. Although the changed Skylar to Flint. Lastly to repeat myself from earlier, nothing about their relationship is good, JS

Yes, I understand that but what I was saying is why continue to aggravate yourself over a series/plot you obviously hate? Go to another page/series that you would enjoy and join a much more pleasant discussion in the comment section, that I know you won't need to engage aggressively or use obscenities, which btw you didn't need use towards me because I was merely concerned about your well-being and have no fight for or against the subject but it's ok. Does this story personally affect you? Does it bring up some sort of trauma? I'm asking because you are highly invested in the plot of a series that you clearly do not like. If it doesn't affect you in any way shape or form, can I suggest you move on as this is obviously messing with your mental health in someway. No need to comment, give your opinions or share basically anything on this page. I hate seeing someone in distress, so the best advice I can give my dear is leave the page, rid yourself of the memory of the plot and move on. Then if others are looking forward to the show or may have opened their mind to experience the series. Don't be baited. Don't answer and just leave. Have a great day and a happy life!
