Not ugly but definitely not attractive cast. The drama is very good check it out. I'm sure not just this drama there are a lot of dramas that are not catered towards females or teenager girls.

I like the modern rika more, the old rika acts like akb48 member which annoys me. But both are good characters.

lol as if this is best japanese drama, it's nowhere close, not even in top 200 or 500. It's just the same cheap cheesy romance drama like good morning call, coffee and vanilla, all versions Mischievous Kiss, boy over flowers and all those popular cheesy romance from korea, japan and taiwan. These are cheap stories that are catered towards girl age below 16.
