It's kind of a “happy” ending for them but she wants to go back to Qing to be with her father. Basically they end the show with her about to return to Qing without saying goodbye and he stops her. He tells her that he will no longer wait for her while aimlessly looking up at the sky. They share a kiss. Then skip to them playing another game of Baduk... he says he will beat her to find out her name. She tells him her name is Hee-Soo. Then he says he will no longer be separated from her and he will spend the rest of his life with her. They smile at each other. The end.
So basically we don't know what happens after that point. Does she return to Qing... does she go then come back to him? Do they get a happy ever after? Basically he's making all these declarations while she says nothing (staring at him with tears in her eyes / like a deer in the headlights) so for me it's like what is she really gonna do next because it's very clear she enjoys her freedom while cross dressing as a man etc. I don't think life in the palace walls by his side / as his wife or even his concubine would be for her. She is stubborn and can't follow rules + she hates people ordering her around. So idk to me it was an open ending. Truthfully, I just don't think they belong together. For me the King deserves sm better.

It’s not a bad thing just shows you a bit more insight into Sooji’s character. Someone like Harin would be threatened by that bc Sooji is as clever as her. It’s not easy to placate a girl like Sooji bc she will keep fighting for her freedom. She doesn’t conform easily as you can see. Unlike Ja Eun who’s willing to cower ie. shut up and take / accept her place as “F” Sooji won’t. She’s a strategist and she’s assessing everyone (their actions + motives) in her head

I take the systems suggestion into consideration when I want to give a score and I feel like I am being harsh / unfair. This drama was about a 6-7 while watching and it lowered after I finished watching the last 4 episodes. But yeah, Rewatch value is important to me because if a drama is good I would want to rewatch. This unfortunately missed the mark.
