That’s what I’m planning to do. I feel like waiting weekly to see the next 4 episodes will only stress me out.

yes, it appears to be a toxic relationship. I was at one point wondering if he would give up his kingship, but…
I loved my dearest but I’m struggling to like this drama bc there aren’t many likeable characters and I can’t really connect with the FL’s storyline much less her motives. I find her really unbearable and that’s such a stark difference bc I loved Gil Chae and rooted for her every step of the way / to the bitter end. She was a fighter, she never gave up and she didn’t recklessly try to create problems. Instead she rather suffer and be in pain so that her friends, her family and even her love would not be burdened.

I don’t think these dramas are even comparable even though they’re both historical, to me they are in different categories just by the storytelling / plot / motives / characters / artistry etc. The ML is good but one person cannot be expected to carry an entire drama. Yes some of the supporting cast like the dowager queen, recently deceased queen and that court lady are trying too but Jo Jung Suk is the clear scene stealer and a masterful performer. I think the plot in Captivating The King is rather weak… but hey you can’t like everything šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø It's just going downhill / missing the mark for me. But I’ll wait until the end before I cast my final judgement.

Idk if I will continue watching next weeks eps bc I can't take the stress. I think i'll wait until it's done airing. I am starting to wonder if her father is even alive. If he is he needs to make his appearance soon so his daughter can stop her nonsense. I do think the king trusts her but also his love for her is making him blind to her schemes against him. This incident is a wake up call for sure and it would be interesting to see if it affects their relationship / dynamic at all going forward.

I have no comment on the FL looks. She's very pretty and yeah... it's hard to believe that she is a man but for the sake of the drama I suspend my beliefs and have to go along with the plot. I believe the term for how she looks especially in this role would be androgynous. I do agree that people are too critical and they need to realize this is just a drama, not real life. I think the actors are trying their best. I have no problem with the acting... I feel like they're doing what the directors asked. So even though I'm annoyed by the FL crying often I'm sure that's what they wanted.

I never hated her from the get go... I could understand her initial intentions but as the story progressed her reasons for revenge seem so stupid especially since we know the magnitude of the kings affection for her. So now with her keeping up her bs... she's just endangering herself and the king. He trusts her so much and she's shattering his trust and about the break his heart every which way. I'm tired of it / her. She should just leave him alone 😭 Like mission accomplished he fell for you and you admitted you liked him too... so why continue this revenge plot?

She's clearly toxic and mentally unwell. Talking about she doesn't know what to do about her feelings šŸ™„... there are only two options here. She can get rid of those feelings and plot against him so he can be killed or acknowledge those feelings and keep her promise to the king by staying by his side. She's so problematic for no good reason at all!

I think the FL is toxic and the ML is worse than she can possibly imagine. She should quit while she's ahead bc surely he will beat her at her own game. I can't root for them as a couple bc that's a disaster waiting to happen. I can however root for the king on his own. Love him. He needs to find someone else and get over Mong Woo.

I just don't think the writer would ever think they "screwed up" I'm sure they're proud of the work they produced regardless of how well it's received by the audience. They're probably having a blast reading the comments and laughing bc we're all worked up meanwhile they know the ending.

Title Captivating the King Spoiler
Ok I finally caught up with ep 13 and I'm irritated to death by the constant mind games. If Lee In and Hee Soo could just have an honest conversation about what happened 3 years ago none of this revenge plot bs would be happening. Also why is she so set on Grand Prince becoming the crown prince? Lmao and if she is indeed pregnant... wouldn't she want her child in line for the throne instead? Arggghh... šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

So many things just don't add up and the king's way of going around the subject of him betraying her (at first) is just so annoying.

ā€œDid you not say three years ago that you had given any attestations about me be it true or false? I have never doubted those words."

"But why did you?ā€ I do not know what to think of your words. "

Lee In : "In this moment, I sit before you as an ordinary man who loves a woman and not as the king of this nation. I have made you suffer, and I understand that pain is still lingering. I know that you have returned to me because of that very pain. I hope a day will come when I can tell you about all the past events in honesty. But in the end, what I offer would only be excuses. I am aware that I do not deserve your forgiveness."

Idk all of this is just bs to me… he will never be an ordinary man. A king will always be a king, period. He has obligations to the crown that he will never be able to escape.

If he knows he’s not deserving of her forgiveness then why not just leave her alone? The back and forth between them is killing me as is the miscommunication. At first it was like ok cool… we’ll get there. Now it seems like they’ll never get there and Mongwoo will not stop sabotaging him. And she’s so dumb too bc the more she sabotages him the more he won’t be able to protect her if his own people turn against him. Like girl who’s gonna forgive you for your crimes if Lee In isn’t the king anymore? The grand prince is definitely too loyal / honest to ever turn a blind eye to anyones crimes (only if it befits him like helping his sister) I just see some of his character traits posing a problem in the future especially when he looses his innocence / naivety (but again… I doubt we’ll ever see that far ahead)

Tbh the main couple just annoying me bc I can’t see a good ending or how they’ll ever be allowed to be together. Hee Soo / Mong Woo needs to stop her foolishness and decide if revenge outweighs her love for him or if she’s willing to go to her death seeking that revenge. Imo Lee In deserves better than her… he’s settling big time for someone who’s not even sure of their feelings.

Also the king also needs to become tougher / smarter and stop letting that principal director walk all over him / make decision in his stead – he needs to get rid of the root of his problem (ie. that scheming man)

Myung Ha is insufferable. His daddy deserved to die and he can’t see that because of his bias. Yeah Lee In should not have ascended the throne bc it wasn’t his birth right but lmao… anyone else would do the same in his position. It’s better to be calling the shots than to have someone else be treating you as inferior. I’m tired of him poisoning Hee Soo against the king.

Poor princess… she still wants to spend time with the king even tho she knows he does not love her 😭 She deserves sm better than this omg.

I’m pissed off that sleazy worm (Yoo Hyun Bo) is trying to proposition his nieces to the Queen Consort. That man needs to be cast out!! Omg I will never forget how he killed his own sister. Imagine one wrong move from his nieces and they’d suffer the same fate.

Ughhh this whole adoption plot is garbage. Why does the grand prince need to be adopted when his mother is still perfectly alive and well? These people / the writing makes no freaking sense. Unless the king was willing to take the late king’s wife as his own then this is absolutely UNNECESSARY!

I just don’t understand how Mong Woo can even face the king as she actively plots against him. Like girllll all you do is LIE LIE LIE. Please… if she truly cared for him she wouldn’t face him, she’d remove herself altogether.

ā€œYou now dare to read my heart.ā€ Exactlyyy bro. The AUDACITY!

ā€œI can read it like an open bookā€ GIRL STFU. Grrrr Mong Woo makes me so angry! She thinks she has power and should be able to plant seeds / sway the king so that her plans come to fruition. Idk to me she and all her co conspirators (especially Myung Ha) are just selfish. They want to do what benefits them… not the nation as a whole. Their revenge is stupid.

The King is also stupid falling into their trap and believing the bs about not having an heir. Maybe if he fulfilled his marital duties he’d have sired an heir. Gosh this is so trifling!

ā€œPlease stop trying to sway me. You will end up in danger.ā€ LMAO TELL HER AGAIN FOR ME LEE IN.

ā€œOver my dead body!ā€ I’m totally with the queen consort on this. Lee In is so stupid and gullible. Mong Woo is literally setting herself up for failure and the kings own downfall too. She’s a fool! I hope she does get pregnant for him so that he can realize the consequences of his own actions and she can get exposed and then locked up for treason! She’s so annoying! Lmao only problem is the king would also be affected. So only solution is for her to die…

Initially my thoughts as to how Mong Woo could escape her fate / live as herself was to create this lie and act like she had a twin sister then go back to her original identity as Hee Soo then act like her twin Mong Woo died from some freak accident / terminal illness. Then this is where the king comes in and then takes that twin sister (Hee Soo) as his concubine bc of the affection he had for his dear friend Mong Woo (would make sense to explain that Hee Soo has no living parents / relatives and that the since her ā€œbrotherā€ died she has nobody to take care of her and it was Mong Woo’s dying wish to protect his sister … yk some bs like that). Anyways now that we know that will NEVER happen bc the writers are not that clever or slick I just wanna see FL suffer. She is sooooo intolerable and does not deserve the king at all. Let alone to even become his concubine.

I hate the uncle but I hate to see Lee In make stupid decisions even more. Ugh he cannot win. Everyone is out to get him.

Ohhh wow look at that. So Lee In is using this event for his own benefit too? Lmaoooo he would do this then cast the prince out?! I mean at least he’s not dumb… but still! This plan is not full proof and I feel like he will regret it in the long run. Principal director speaking facts about if the court opposes his decision to expel the Munseong what will he do? Exactly. ISTG all of them are IDIOTS!

I honestly don’t feel sorry for Mong Woo. This is exactly what she deserves… she needs to realize being king is not a joke and people become ruthless especially when everyone is out to get them. Lee In doesn’t have time to play around. And if Mong Woo thinks the grand prince is any better being in line for the throne she’s definitely delusional. Just wait until he grows up and then starts scheming like his cousin Myung Ha. Mong Woo lives in la la land where she believes everyone is thoughtful and kind and does things for the good of everyone. I need her to wake up! This ain't my first rodeo but it’s clearly hers! She needs to leave the palace and stop meddling in their business. Like girl do you not have anything better to do? I feel like she never learned her lesson 3 years ago when she nearly died and barely managed to escape. I believe she won’t learn until she actually dies this time.

I find this drama soooo unbelievable. Does the crown prince not have a mother of his own???! I’m laughing at the absurdity. Like this is CRAZYYYYY. His birth mother would feel so BETRAYED if she saw what he was doing rn. Him bawling and calling her mother is just pissing me off too like boy she just became your mom like 30 seconds ago… PLEASE-

(If this comes off as me lacking sympathy I definitely do... there was not enough build up with the queen and crown prince for me to just immediately accept that she's his mother and watch him call her that in her last moments of life. Like yes I'm sad she died because she was genuinely a pure soul but the timing of it all and how the squeezed all that into 1 episode is entirely too much)

Idk I’m waiting for the eyepatch man to turn against Mong Woo and kill her.

I just have nooooo sympathy for Mong Woo… she made her life this difficult / miserable. Like lmao she’s just realizing the consequences of her actions? I can’t–

ā€œI am clueless as to what to do with my feelings.ā€ Girl I got a few options for you… the first one being to leave the palace while you still have your dignity / life intact 😭

ā€œIf you do meet Hongjang, please give her my regards.ā€ Now why would she said that unless she plans to kill him or she wishes he die??? I’m so sure she’s gonna tell Lee in.

Girl will never deserve him idc. What makes it worse is she cries after making her decision. ANNOYING! LIKE GIRL STAND UP FR. You did all this!

ā€œYou cannot go inside.ā€

ā€œDo you have another lover waiting inside?ā€ LMFAO the laugh I just let out I cannot Lee In is sooooo funny 😭

ā€œOr is there an assassin waiting to kill me?ā€ DING DING DING… we love an astute king!

Idc I want Mong Woo to die! šŸ˜€ Such a reckless bitch.

Moral of the story: Hee Soo / Mong Woo doesn't want peace, she wants PROBLEMS. Hell she is the PROBLEM.

As of now I am a Mong Woo hater for life! That girl is such a dumbass... she thinks cuz she can play a little "baduk" that it makes her special or intelligent? She's way in over her head. SHE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND STOPPED!

lmaooo 😭 true but I still think she just grew up having more training because of her father. She was exposed to the lifestyle from an earlier age so she has raw talent the other girl had to train very hard to even be 1/2 as good as her. But anyways... I didn't like either of them so it's neither here nor there for me. Good that the FL lost... more reason to have me feeling like I wasted my time rooting for some kind of growth/transformation. Bc on top of being an annoying character she lost the biggest tournament of her life.
