Title Pit Babe
The only things Way does is stand around, come out of nowhere and emotionally manipulate Babe.
Technically speaking, Charlie is the one who came out of nowhere. So to me, Way being wary of him makes sense. Imagine you're on a team, and you know that there is a shady other team trying to bring your team down. And then some mysterious kid just shows up out of the blue and inserts himself completely into the life of your best friend. Way is definitely self-motivated, and jealousy is most definitely his primary reason for trying to dismiss Charlie, but on its face, him being sketched out by Charlie is perfectly reasonable as far as the narrative has told us so far. I really don't get the intense hatred people have for Way, just based off of what we've seen in the show. Is he selfish? Yes. But he's also kind of right. Charlie is not being honest with Babe, and is in fact keeping secrets from him. I feel like people are just hating on Way because of how his character turns out in the novels, but we don't even know if the show will be the same as the book. Just my two cents, of course. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I have a very legitimate question herewhy is everyone hating on Way ? 🥺
Because everyone exists in an either/or universe and have decided that if they like the character of Charlie and are rooting for Babe/Charlie, then they must hate Way by proxy.

That or they are book spoiled and are superimposing what they know about his character in the books onto his character in the show, which is ridiculous because at this point the book and show are like night and day by comparison.

Just my take on it, because based only on the information we have in show, him being suspicious of Charlie makes perfectly logical sense. And yes, while his own feelings make his motivations a bit selfish, people out here comparing his character-as it is now- not including things from the book that may or may not ever materialize in the show- to a character as toxic and psychotic as Lhong from Tharn Type after ONE conversation with Babe is crazy to me.

For everyone who wants to understand the series better. -Way is an enigma (the most superior class of Alpha and…
At this point, it almost feels irrelevant to me, to mull over book spoilers. The only two things that are even remotely the same as the novels are the character names and the concept of their abilities. Everything else is completely different. I feel like the books are hyper focused on Babe/Charlie, but the show feels more like it's trying to be an ensemble. I have a feeling that they will keep the idea of Way being another of Tony's kids, just because it makes sense. I think they'll keep his powers the same as well. But the entire motivation and reasoning behind his character's deception is going to have to change, which means Charlie's motivations are also going to have to change. We also have multiple side couples that were non existent in the books, so we have absolutely no idea how those storylines will resolve. I have a feeling that Way's character is going to be softened from the way he turned out in the novel, but still be revealed as dishonest to Babe in some way. They'll have to keep that aspect of the story, because him being traitorous is the only way the story can justify and make it believable that Charlie is the only person that Babe can trust. I think that will have to remain, because to be honest, both in show and in the books, it's kind of the crucial lynchpin that makes those two work as a couple. So my take is that Way will still end up being a traitor, but the reason will be completely different. And because they're introducing a separate love story between Way and Pete, I don't think Way will be as irredeemable or meet quite as gruesome an end as he does in the novel.

I'd agree if the romance wasn't the central plot of the story. In romance, it takes two to make the story compelling. I almost wish this was just an ensemble thriller about race car drivers. Because Pavel is incredible. The supporting cast is solid and I'm actually into the world building. The only element of this story that is not working for me is the romance between Babe and Charlie. I still want to keep watching because I'm enjoying the balance of the show so far, but I know once the show becomes full tilt all about the main couple romance, I'm going to lose interest.

I'd agree, except we all know that the show wants us to root for Charlie and Babe. Everyone knows the main couple, and if a large swath of the audience is actually rooting for a couple that is not the main couple, I think that's actually a pretty big problem with the casting. I'd love to root for Way and Babe, because to me they have more chemistry. But I know it would be a fruitless waste of my time to do it. So now, I'm stuck with a ghost ship that I like that I know won't sail and a main ship that I can't invest in because the chemistry is just not there for me. My only hope left is that any of the side couples get enough of a storyline that they're worth investing in.

After three episodes I think I can finally say that I wish they had cast someone with a bit more experience to play Charlie. Pooh seems like a perfectly lovely young man, but he's just...not good yet. It's not his fault, because he doesn't really have a lot of experience, but it just takes me completely out of the show. Pavel is doing amazing and every time they have a scene together, the difference in experience, charisma and actability is painfully obvious to me. They should have just paired Pavel and Nut, like they did for the pilot trailer. What a sad waste of potential. I'm still mostly enjoying the show, however. I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

I'm starting to wonder if this might be the kind of show where it's beneficial to let a few episodes stack up before watching.

Not buying this instalove between Babe and Charlie. Nothing in the script has given any reasonable explanation as to why Babe, who has clearly up to this point never been with anyone seriously, is all of a sudden dickmatized and jealous over some cutesy little stalker simp he just met. If it's really just that he doesn't smell like an alpha, that's the stupidest love story I've ever heard.

And I'm just going to say it- Charlie was miscast. Pooh does not have the experience to pull this character off, and it takes me out of every scene he is in.
