I couldn't believe how FL ended up with who she ended up with. It seemed like she had the most chemistry with Se-ra. Maybe I'm just not appreciative of how Lee Se-heon's character was so sneaky, and how he really kept meeting his ex? Like... why
I'm a bit confused. In Netflix, there's only 20 episodes, but there should be 40 according to the list here. Is Netflix still lacking some episodes, or is there a special Netflix release?
The subs really aren't helping me since they're kind of bad :( I'm still at episode 2, but can anyone tell me about Cha Zi Fei Yan? Do they have a split personality? (Because from what I gather, they do? But I just want to be extra sure about that).
Glad someone said it. I thought I was the only one who had noticed how bad the subs were since no one was talking…
Honestly same! There are really a lot of good MGTV dramas out there but alas, we must suffer through terrible subs in order to watch them first :/ I genuinely hope they improve their sub game soon. It's already been a few years since they've really started to gain traction in their Youtube channel, but they still haven't invested in proper subtitling.
I have watched Thai dramas, including the true lakorn, that are mostly in Ch3, Ch7, or Ch11, or more modern approach…
I can see what you mean with GMMTV's take on F4 Thailand! I notice that there isn't anything particularly corny about it, and even how it's made feels like it's to cater to the international audience's taste.
I've actually watched until episode 8 now, because after episode 3, I just couldn't bring myself to stop clicking "Next Episode" until I decided that my hard stop would be episode 8. I'm honestly so in love with this version and I really love how there's more to this version than what meets the eye. I'll watch again on April 9 to finish the rest of the remaining episodes (and by then the last episode will already have aired, which is good).
I see what you mean by the bullying! Thank god the bullying lessens after the first episode. Honestly, there are a lot of negative comments in the drama's page here on MDL, which I understand, but I can't help myself! Haha I really am enjoying the drama right now & I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
I don't care what people say but I am in love with this version and I think this is better than the other versions…
Honestly! Same here. This version is really easily making it way up into my list of faves, and I don't fully understand why. There's just something about this version!
Honestly, I loved Z.Tao in The Negotiator and The Brightest Star in the Sky and I'm so happy to see him back again with this new drama. I came into this drama not really knowing much about it, and I became so hooked after the first episode (I ended up binging the whole thing until like the 18th episode) and as much as I hate waiting for new releases, for this drama, I actually don't particularly mind. I probably subconsciously know that the wait will have been worth it.
This is my first time seeing Song Zu Er in something, and I'm not disappointed at all. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of her roles in the future! She's done such a great job on portraying Qian Wei that I can't imagine anyone else who could have nailed the role but her.
How everything is written so far is amazing, and there isn't any dull moment for me. Everything ties in so well together with each other, and I love the pacing of the things in the past getting revealed about Lu Xun and Qian Wei. Oh! and their chemistry is insane! They look so good together and everything about their relationship feels so natural.
I honestly could write some more about the drama, but I think this comment has become quite long already. I enjoyed your article! I was honestly so excited to be opening it because I just know there's only good things to be said about this drama so far. I do have a couple of questions though, would it be possible to ask where I could read the novel? I didn't know that this was based on a novel until you mentioned it, and I love the drama enough right now to be willing to actually read the novel and see what happens there.
Oh, also, this is my first time hearing about the Chinese entertainment authority's ban on time travel in films and television. Could I ask more about this? What is this about? Where can I read more about it? I didn't know there was one since I've recently seen some time travel/time loop dramas (aside from this one).
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Thai dramas (having only seen like one episode and I don't even remember what that drama was), but this Thai remake was something I have been curious about. This has been in my watchlist for the longest time, and I'm thinking that this might be a good entry point into Thai dramas (because it's comfortable since it's a remake of things I've already seen before; I've already seen Meteor Garden (2001) and Boys Over Flowers). I've honestly just been putting off watching it because of how long the releases are in between episodes. I'll wait for everything to finish airing, and then try to binge it all in one go.
But, I'm honestly a little nervous with the bullying you've mentioned, because I do agree that it seems kind of a lot more harsh than in other HYD remakes... but I guess I'll check it out first.
I haven't seen any of the others except for Hot Stove League and Doom at Your Service and I completely agree with all of your points for these two dramas in particular! I honestly picked up Doom at Your Service just because of the main leads, but there isn't anything to write home about with the drama at all. It was a good watch, not the best, but not entirely terrible either, and it did a decent job at passing the time. The concept was good overall, but its execution just isn't up there for me. On the other hand, I am so in love with Hot Stove League. It has easily joined my list of top Korean dramas, and I'm so disappointed that it's severely underrated, just like you said. I only hope that more people get to realize how beautifully written Hot Stove League is, and how the leads are such amazing actors.
